NCIMB Ltd, services
Microbial Identification
The NCIMB microbial Identification Service provides fast, confidential and credible identification of bacteria and certain common fungi to Good Manufacturing Practice standards. We isolate and identify bacteria from diverse sources, having particular expertise in the environmental and pharmaceutical sectors. Our culture collection provides us with immediate access to a unique source of authentic reference material. We also have access to a number of private collections, ensuring a wide reference base to work with.
Microbial Preservation
We store cultures freeze-dried or frozen or to liquid nitrogen temperatures, and provide them in glass ampoules or cryovials.
Environmental Services
Oil and gas production and processing operations can cause naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM), often referred to as LSA (Low Specific Activity), to accumulate at elevated concentrations in production streams. The NORM forming in these streams is at levels which present a challenge to the oil and gas industry, particularly for compliance with the legislation governing waste disposals.
Oilfield Microbiology
Oilfield Microbial Surveys. Microbial proliferation in oil production systems can cause corrosion, well clogging and reservoir souring, resulting in a considerably loss in productivity and finances. Microbially Induced Corrosion (MIC) can be caused by the proliferation of sulphate-reducing bacteria if left unmonitored and untreated.
