Nicholson Construction Company’s leadership in a wide range of grouting techniques has shown us that large sub-surface flows of water are at times difficult to stop by grouting with cement, soil, or chemical grouts. In these conditions, Nicholson has utilized an innovative technique known as asphalt grouting particularly in sealing flowing bodies of water in subsurface rock channels.

As a leader in the use of grouting techniques and technology pioneer, Nicholson Construction Company has gained a wealth of experience in a range of jet grouting projects employing different systems in a variety of soils throughout the country. This experience has allowed us to provide robust optimized design solutions using this technique. 

Cutter soil mixing (CSM) provides a cost-effective solution for the rapid construction of retaining and cut-off walls by mixing soil in-situ with a cement/bentonite grout. Like traditional walls, the CSM wall consists of adjacent male and female panels. Depending on soil conditions and specific project requirements, the soil is mixed and grouted, following pre-determined procedures, during the drilling and the extraction phases.

Nicholson Construction Company’s leading geotechnical construction experience allows us to employ a range of vibro technologies to create reinforced, compacted columns in poor soils. One such technique is the use of vibro concrete columns. This technique is commonly used in areas that require higher loads and are installed through very soft soils (commonly peat or other organic deposits) in order to transfer loads to more competent load-bearing strata. Vibro concrete columns are used in cases where the soils are so soft and unstable that installation of stone columns would be difficult, or where the stone columns would not have sufficient lateral confinement to adequately carry vertical loads.
