Mission Statement
The National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) has been in the standards and certification business for over 50 years. Founded in 1948, NSAI core focus at that time was in Legal Metrology, the requirements for units of measurement, measurement instrumentation and the procedure of measurement.
In 1968, the adoption of international standards had gained acceptance throughout the world and NSAI became the Standards writings body for Ireland and began offering certification services in the United States.
In 1988 NSAI Inc, a US subsidiary of the National Standards Authority of Ireland was established. Today, NSAI manages the US, Canadian and South American operations from its head office located in Nashua, New Hampshire with regional offices located throughout the United States.

The effectiveness of NSAI’s Quality Management System is maintained and continually improved through teamwork and the commitment of all staff.
Commitment to Impartiality
NSAI’s management are committed to ensuring the impartiality, independence and objectivity of its certification services and actively manages any threat of actual or perceived conflicts of interest affecting NSAI’s certification and inspection services, its management, staff and auditors (including remuneration packages) and the activities of any associated functions. NSAI’s impartiality and objectivity is monitored by a dedicated committee providing oversight of NSAI activities and, in particular, the impartiality of its certification services and ensuring objectivity in its work.
Any questions relating to impartiality should be addressed to the NSAI, CEO (Mr. Kevin Mullaney) and will be reviewed by the Chairperson or the Certification Oversight Committee.
