At OES, we believe that for training to be beneficial, it must be focused on the needs of the attendees and, in so far as possible, take account of their day to day roles within their organisations.OES organise and present a wide range of training courses on a series of environmental and safety topics, all focused on getting the most out of your organisations training spend.

An effective safety management system tailored to match the scale and activities of your company is a key element in reducing your business risk and costs, often hidden and underestimated, associated with incidents and accidents in the workplace. OES would first work closely with you to establish an understanding of your business; how you and your employees work, what your activities are. This will allow us to tailor your safety system to fit you and your business and ensure that the system we provide is one you can work with. Our aim would be to improve safety performance at your facility and ensure that you remain compliant with safety, health and welfare at work legislation. We can also work with you on individual projects to ensure you comply with the relevant codes, e.g. construction regulations.

OES can work with your company to ensure compliance with the requirements of Irish and EU legislation relating to workplace exposure of chemical agents and prevent expensive litigation or claims. OES can undertake workplace occupational hygiene surveys at your facility to establish where you stand with regard to ergonomics, employee welfare and potential exposure to chemical agents. We would work with you to develop sampling or monitoring strategies at your facility to ensure that any sampling or monitoring undertaken is fully representative of activities at your site. All of our monitoring equipment meets occupational monitoring standards and is fully calibrated. In addition, we use an external, accredited laboratory to conduct analysis and deliver independent certification on all analysis conducted.

OES believes that if safety can be designed into a process then the risks to your employees and the costs associated with retrofitting safety systems will substantially reduced. So, if you are developing new systems working with us from the outset is likely to save you money in the long medium term. At the same time, we recognise that this is not always practical and can work with you to conduct safety assessments of your existing processes and equipment and recommend practical, costed controls to allow you to reduce risk to your business. We can work with your teams on introducing safety elements into process design projects or manage safety projects completely from concept to contractor tender to installation.

Safety training is a statutory requirement under health and safety law. Based on our experience across a wide range of sectors, OES tailor our courses to meet your requirements. In addition, as we firmly believe that employee involvement in all aspects of health and safety in the workplace is hugely beneficial in fostering a safety culture, we focus on making safety everyone’s responsibility.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) An EIA is a legal requirement for many planning developments including industrial facilities, wind farms, large housing developments and new roads. The EIA consists of background research and field studies to identify any potential negative impact of the site on the environment. It may also include recommendations to minimise any negative impacts. OES have intimate knowledge of the complex legislative framework that exists throughout the various levels of consent and approval. We provide a comprehensive approach preparing your report, meeting with relevant planners and/or government bodies and the public to ensure all significant environmental issues are addressed.

Whether you require an Integrated Pollution Prevention Control (IPPC) Licence or Waste Licence from the Environmental Protection Agency, or Permit from your Local Authority, OES will assist you to prepare the application documentation. We will complete the specialist surveys and reports required to obtain the license and also help you to manage and ensure compliance with the license.

OES undertake a wide range of environmental monitoring to help industry, business, and private clients achieve compliance with Environmental Protection Agency Licenses, County Council Permits and Conditions attached to Planning Permissions. Our project teams work together with clients to assess, develop, and implement monitoring plans, which will ensure environmental protection objectives are successfully achieved.

Environmental Management Systems (EMS) are becoming increasingly important to industry to protect the environment from the potential impacts of a business’s activities, products and services. EMS provide a formal, site-specific, documented system which enables a company to manage the environmental aspects of its operations.

Remediation of a contaminated site is a complex and detailed task that must be undertaken in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Local Authorities or Insurance Companies. OES will ensure the correct identification and removal of contaminated material, undertake validation sampling, and coordinate the movement of the material to a licenced disposal/recovery site. We have developed monitoring schemes and undertaken detailed risk assessments to confirm that sites no longer pose any residual risks posed by the sites.
