About Us
Parratt-Wolff is now in its second generation of management. Having grown, matured and evolved into an employee-owned company, we are proudly continuing the service and know-how that has been our trademark since our founding.
Our technical expertise allows us to provide services unimagined when the firm was launched in 1969. Since that time, our company has evolved into a well-known, highly respected provider of specialty contract drilling services. All of our geotechnical drilling is performed under strict compliance with ASTM Standards.
We have grown to a company of three offices, 55 employees and we now own over 40 major pieces of field equipment. We service clients from Maine to Florida and as far west as Michigan. Our growth is the result of solid management, dedicated field professionals and the repeat business of our many, satisfied clients.
Despite all the changes some things remain the same at Parratt-Wolff….an unwavering commitment to delivering consistently high quality work, on schedule and at a competitive price.
Health and Safety Update
The goal of our Corporate Health and Safety program is to create a consistent and sustainable safe working environment for the benefit of our employees and clients. In 2012, we have made great strides on both fronts in creating a unique Parratt Wolff safety culture.
Now with three office locations, PW has been working to create a consistent safety program that can be seen on any of our projects. To improve training efficiency, employees at all three of our office locations can now participate in real-time monthly safety meetings through the use of video conferencing software. Whether in North Carolina, Pennsylvania or New York, we make sure everyone is a part of the safety conversation. PW Health and Safety director Preston Simmons is leading the charge; “Technology has quickly become a great asset to our safety program. As director, it has been a lot of work to keep everyone on the same page. Our use of technology in this program will make us much more efficient in the future.”
Preston was able to test our new conferencing technology during last month’s safety meeting. He was joined by Dr. Erika Nowak, a herpetologist and professor from Northern Arizona University. Dr. Nowak hosted a seminar on snake ecology and training. Field crews from both the Syracuse NY and Hillsborough NC office were able to participate in the training to help them identify snake hazards from the mountains of Northern Pennsylvania to the swamps of Florida. In the future, all monthly safety meetings will be on conference to include constituents from all three PW locations.
In addition to internal progress of our health and safety plan, our clients can also benefit from our program long before the project begins. Clients can now view our company profile on numerous third party verification sites. Having memberships to auditing sites like Browz, PICS and ISNetworld allows a more convenient access to our company’s information. On these sites, users can get in in-depth company snapshot. Using the sites together will provide access to business finance information, certificates of insurance, DOT information, OSHA logs and various employee-training certificates. The convenience of these tools provides our clients the ability to retrieve this information at all hours of the day in easy-to-read formats.
By everyone working together to create a safety culture here at PW, we are seeing great results. Last week, our Hillsborough NC office earned the North Carolina Department of Labor Certificate of Safety Achievement Gold Award for the third consecutive year. This award is given in recognition of outstanding safety and health efforts resulting in a substantial reduction in injury and illnesses by promoting safe working conditions in 2011.
For the past 5 years we have made a dedicated commitment to achieving our goal of zero recordable incidents. We will continue to work hard in developing our program to ensure that all employees go home safely everyday.

Parratt-Wolff Opens a New Location in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania
In 1969, Parratt-Wolff opened its first location in Syracuse, New York in order to serve the geotechnical needs of the construction industry in the Northeast.
Beginning in the early 1980s, strategic growth allowed for expansion into the environmental drilling industry. Since then, the company has been providing quality drilling services from Maine to Florida, and as far west as Michigan. After over 40 years of operation, there aren’t too many things that Parratt-Wolff hasn’t seen or done in the drilling business.
“Our goal has always been to be the most reliable resource for our clients. That is what prompted the opening of our North Carolina office in 1996, and is the same reason we are opening a third location in Pennsylvania” says P-W President Mike Ellingworth.
“The new office, located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania will allow us to better serve our client’s needs on Marcellus Shale projects.”
Field crews from the Pennsylvania office will bring years of drilling experience to the area. Recently, P-W has worked on projects in the state of Pennsylvania ranging from well rehabilitation and installation of monitoring wells to soft-dig and direct push.
Managing the Pennsylvania field teams will be Senior Vice President Bill Morrow, a Pennsylvania native, and graduate of Bucknell University. “The decision to open an office here is not only about strategic growth and accessibility for our clients, for me it’s about coming home. I am looking forward to providing quality field services from our new office” The Lewisburg office was officially opened on December 1st, 2011. For project information and quotes, contact Bill Morrow at 570-523-8913 or by e-mail at wmorrow@pwinc.com.
