Wedge Type Flow Meters

PFS - Model WM - Wedgetype Flow Meter

The WM wedge flow meter consists of a pipe inside which a V-shaped wedge is fitted. The basic system consists of a piping configuration into which a constriction “wedge” is fabricated thereby leaving an open segment of a known height. They are used for various process applications and conditions, especially slurries, suspended solids or viscous liquids. They can also be used for clean liquids, gas, air and steam.

The Wedge-X flow meter design is derived from the standard wedge flow meter, but allows for a direct coupled differential pressure transmitter, and a replaceable wedge which results in a compact and cost-effective unit that virtually eliminates both gauge line induced and plugged tap related measurement errors.

Orifice Flow Meters

PFS - Orifice Plates (OP)

Orifice plates are common differential producer type flow elements for the measurement of liquids, gases and steam flow. Orifice plates are used for measuring and controlling fluid flow and can also be used to reduce pressure in a pipe system. The concentric, square edge type of orifice plate is the most frequently used, offering low cost, accuracy, ease of installation and rapid availability.

PFS - Orifice Unions (OU)

Orifice Unions are ready to install assemblies used to measure and control flow or to reduce pressure in a pipe system. They are comprised of Gaskets, Hardware and Orifice Flanges that contain pressure sensing ports. An orifice plate is also typically used with the orifice union. Once installed (welded in line), connect your dP flow transmitter and you are ready to measure flow. Configurations of this assembly are adaptable to almost any line conditions. Components that comprise the assembly can be precisely specified for any application, with carbon steel flanges and a stainless-steel orifice plate being the most common variation.

Flow Nozzle Meter

PFS - Model ASME PTC-6 - Flow Nozzle

The ASME PTC-6 Throat Tap Flow Nozzle provides the highest possible dP device accuracy and precision which is needed for the testing of steam turbine efficiency as prescribed in the ASME PTC-6 2004 Performance Test Code. The PTC-6 Flow Nozzle is supplied complete with integrated up/down pipe spools, a flow conditioner and with an optional nozzle outlet diffuser cone for considerably reduced pressure loss. All PTC-6 Flow Nozzles supplied by Primary Flow Signal are guaranteed to meet the strict laboratory calibration criteria required to maintain the uncertainty needed for turbine performance testing.

PFS - Model ASME - Long Radius Flow Nozzle Meter

The Long Radius Flow Nozzle is generally used for the measurement of liquid or gas flows including steam, non-viscous, erosive and high-velocity media. It does not rely on a sharp edge (which can deteriorate over time) to maintain accuracy and therefore offers excellent long-term accuracy with less wear, reducing the possibility of measurement error over time.
