The new generation of PROFILTER’s travelling band screens is the result of many years of experience in the field of water treatment for communal water intakes, large industrial plants such as power plants and combined heat and power plants, the chemical industry and others. Our first attempts to use rubber belts in place of steel chains took place in the early 1990s.

PROFILTER mechanical bar screens are innovative, original solutions for rough screening of water or wastewater. The innovation of our proven solution lies simply in the fact that the bar grate cleaning mechanism is arranged on the clean-water side of the grate, and it is therefore not exposed to the destructive influence of wastewater or sewage prior to cleaning. Depending on the type of the bar grate and the installation conditions, the separated trash can be collected in front of or behind the grate. The technical solutions used in PROFILTER self-cleaning bar screens reduce to a minimum the required staff assistance in their operation and considerably reduce the costs of their maintenance and overhaul.

The macerator shreds up the solids of the screenings to make their further rinsing and thickening more effective. The screenings are fed onto a set of cutting discs, rotating in opposite directions to each other, and are fine shredded into small pieces by the cutting knives of unique geometry.

The screenings to be treated are conveyed directly from a bar screen or other stage in the sewage treatment line and dropped into the loading hopper of the machine. First they are rinsed on a sieve to get rid of organic slurry. Next, a screw conveyor transports the screenings to the dewatering press, where they are finally dewatered and compressed. The dewatered and compressed screenings free from organic content are conveyed outside.

The raw material is fed through the loading hopper into the space of a rotating screw conveyor. The rotating shaft transports the material along the conveyor gutter to the discharging outlet. The construction of the screw conveyor in a standard version is made entirely of steel grade 1.4301 (AISI 304), except for the screw blade, bearings and the inside lining of the gutter. On request, the screw blade can be made of acid resistant steel or other materials. The conveyor is fitted with safety covers to prevent accidents during its operation.

This kind of plant is used for separating mineral parts from the so-called sand pulp, or mud, coming from a grit trap or other devices in the waste water treatment line. The sand pulp, being a mixture of mineral and organic material, is fed through the inlet pipe in the top part of the machine. When inside the machine, the content is rinsed by jets of water coming from a set of directional nozzles. The process, additionally supported by a mixer arm slowly rotating in the direction opposite to that of the rinsing system, serves separating the lighter organic particles and the heavier mineral particles (grit). As a result, the clean grit deposits on the bottom of the machine, while the fluidized organic slurry flows to the outlet pipe to be returned to the waste water treatment process.

PROFILTER is a manufacturer of various types of screening mesh, including braided mesh, corrosion-resistant mesh (acid-proof steel, duplex steel). We can also offer titanium mesh, which is recommended for use in exceptionally chemically aggressive conditions. The mesh sizes in the water screening equipment supplied to date by PROFILTER ranges from 0.5 x 0.5 mm to 20 x 20 mm.
