Ramky set up India`s first integrated industrial hazardous waste management facility at Hyderabad. Today, with 12 operational facilities, the Company handles in excess of a million tonnes of hazardous waste annually. The hazardous waste facilities of Ramky are in line with international guidelines – they sport double composite liner landfills with leachate collection arrangement following USEPA`s RCRA Subtitle C requirements for landfills. Waste received at these facilities is disposed off by three modes – direct land filling, stabilization of waste followed by land filling or by direct scientific landfilling. All these facilities are in compliance with the rules and guidelines laid down by the Central Pollution Control Board and the Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi. Ramky operates hazardous waste incinerators at Taloja, Hyderabad, Haldia, Vizag, Indore and Chennai. These facilities are on par with the world`s best practice.

Urban India is beset with serious municipal solid waste problems with about 200,000 TPD of MSW being generated in its urban areas. Scientific handling and disposal of this waste is a huge challenge. Ramky has taken the lead in providing competitive and technically reliable solutions to the problem. Ramky provides a complete range of municipal waste management services on a `cradle-to-grave ` approach.

Ramky was the first private sector player to establish a Biomedical Waste Management facility in Hyderabad. More facilities were soon set up by the Company in other states of India. Today Ramky handles waste from over 12,000 health care establishments covering about 175,000 beds. The main modes of biomedical waste destruction that Ramky employs are (i) Sterilization using autoclaves (ii) Incineration of a part of the waste received. Waste is collected 365 days a year from hospitals and taken to assigned Waste Management facilities where it is adequately and safely destroyed. All facilities comply with statutory regulations. They are provided with air pollution control devices. Needles are sterilized and destroyed. The facilities operate in partnership with SembCorp Environmental Management Ltd., Singapore.

All services that would benefit the industry, industrial estates /parks, commercial establishments, seaports/ airports for their environmental and waste management needs are provided by Ramky under Integrated Environment Services (IES). This concept goes beyond the traditional focus on pollution control to incorporate a broader range of pollution management, cleaner technologies, resource conservation, renewable sources of energy etc.

Ramky, a pioneer in the water business segment has acknowledged the importance of water in the prosperity of a nation and come up with several reliable and complete water management solutions. The Company has significant in-house skills and experience in Water supply, Waste water treatment, Underground drainage systems and related areas. Ramky currently has a significant market share in this segment and has a major share of water related projects tendered by the Government and Quasi-Government bodies.

Ramky E-Waste Management was set up for the purpose of safe and environment-friendly handling of e-waste. This project provides the entire gamut of E-waste management services to potential clients. The first facility was set up at Hardware Park, Maheshwaram, Hyderabad. Another facility is being set up at KIADB Industrial Area, Dobbaspet, Bengaluru. Ramky E-waste Management facilities will be completely incorporating all requirements for collecting, receiving, shredding, separating plastic and metals (ferrous, non-ferrous and precious) as well as recovering precious metals and refining of the same in India.

Ramky proposes to set up integrated waste recycling hubs in various parts of the Country to recycle: Waste Paper Waste / Used Oil, Solvents Waste Plastic, Lead Acid Batteries Non-Ferrous Metals.

Ramky is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) as per ISO/IEC 17025-1999, has MoEF Accreditation under EPA act 1986, and is also recognized by most of the State Pollution Control Boards.
