Remington Technologies services
Bench Scale Testing Services
With initial guidance from the Colorado School of Mines, Environmental Science and Engineering Division, Remington has built a unique laboratory designed to test the effectiveness of any remedial material on soil and groundwater samples collected from a prospective site.
In-Situ Chemical Oxidation Services
Remington has spent a decade refining the injection of remedial materials, most notably, the injection of chemical oxidants for the remediation of petroleum and chlorinated solvents in soil and groundwater. From the early days of modified Fenton’s Reagent to the current extensive list of effective subsurface oxidizers, Remington has led the way in developing delivery methods that provide these materials to the contaminant in almost every conceivable site condition, weather condition and subsurface material.
In-Situ Bio-Stimulation Services
It is not unusual for a chemical oxidation injection to provide an extended period of elevated dissolved oxygen in the treated groundwater. Dissolved Oxygen, or DO, is often the limiting factor in the population of hydrocarbon consuming aerobic bacteria. Residual DO can and does provide for a subsequent bloom of aerobic bacteria in the groundwater. However, real life experience and bench scale test results indicate that within a certain range of contamination, the addition of oxygen release compounds can provide the primary mechanism for hydrocarbon degradation. Our experience in the field and in the laboratory allows us to help our clients determine when this mechanism can best be employed and exploited for contaminant reduction.
Pilot Testing Services
Information gleaned from a small-scale injection event, or pilot test, is critical to the injection design at large sites or where there are variable and/or problematic stratigraphic conditions.
Multiple Remediation Technologies Services
Remington often recommends the combination of an injection approach with other remedial technologies to achieve the most cost effective remediation solution. Remington has installed SVE/AS, Dual Phase Extraction, ISOC and Injection Systems in combination with temporary injection point activities with the systems often located in the source area and the injections in the advected plume area.
Air Knifing Services
Remington offers `Air-Knifing` services to clients who require boreholes to be cleared prior to ground disturbance activities. Air Knifing is a non-intrusive way of removing soil from a borehole location to ensure the absence of utilities, pipelines, and/or tanks. Though we offer water knifing services as well, we have found compressed air to be the gentlest way of dislodging material from the near surface without damaging underground utilities. Water knife units can potentially rupture piping and cable insulation. Water can also be problematic during wintertime due to freezing conditions. Water knifing generates mud and mud can obscure utilities along the perimeter of the borehole.
