Research Institute for Water and Waste Management (FiW)
The Research Institute for Water and Waste Management (FiW) was established in 1979 as an independent at the RWTH Aachen University. The close links with the university provide an optimal framework for the institute to find solutions for problems in water and waste management that require interdisciplinary approaches. FiW cooperates closely in particular with the Department of Environmental Engineering.

About Us
The members of the sponsoring organization are representatives from water boards, planning offices and industry. FiW enjoys the support of an Advisory Council for Research Evaluation that features representatives from the university, from federal ministries, ministries of the federal states, and industry as honorary members. The Advisory Council assists the institute in extending the existing fields of work and also in facing new challenges and opening up new fields of action.
The Managing Board of the institute is formed by Mr. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Harro Bode (president), Mr. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johannes Pinnekamp (board director), Mr. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Max Dohmann, Mr. Dr.-Ing. Hermann-Josef Roos and Mr. Dr.-Ing. Wulf Lindner. Dr.-Ing. Friedrich-Wilhelm Bolle runs the institute as managing director.
