History
RJN Group, Inc. was founded by Richard J. Nogaj as RJN Environmental Associates, Inc. in July, 1975. The combination of regulations and grants led to a renewed investment in the existing wastewater collection system and treatment infrastructure and also to the rapid growth of the firm beginning in Wheaton, Illinois and the surrounding Chicago suburbs.
As early as 1978, RJN Group began to utilize computers to deliver innovative engineering solutions to our clients through the development of Computer Aided Systems Support (CASS®).
As a result of EPA enforcement and regulatory actions, RJN opened the College Park, Maryland branch office in 1983. This first branch office was the result of a large SSES contract secured with the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
In 1986, RJN Group acquired McCullough Associates of Texas and transitioned into the RJN Dallas/Fort Worth branch office.
RJN Employee Ownership the First Fifteen Years: 1995- 2010
In the early 1990s, Mr. Nogaj initiated the process of ownership transition and employee empowerment.
On August 1, 1995, Mr. Nogaj sold the firm to the employees establishing RJN Group, Inc. as an ESOP company.
In 2000, RJN opened a regional office in St. Louis. Two years later, RJN was awarded the Metropolitan Sewer District of St. Louis contract for a Combined Sewer Inflow/Infiltration Investigation.
From 2003 to 2010 RJN diversified into new regional markets by providing collection system solutions.

RJN Group is consistently recognized by Engineering News-Record as a top engineering and environmental design firm. Trenchless Technology continually ranks RJN as a top trenchless design firm. RJN operates regional offices in Wheaton, Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; Dallas, Texas; and Baltimore, Maryland. Nationally, RJN has a network of over 20 offices in the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. We have a staff of over 150 employee owners composed of engineers, technicians, inspectors, specialists, programmers, and support staff.
