Roadscanners has performed extensive research and development work in order to develop further NDT techniques and their data analysis with the aim to better map the condition of bridge decks. These techniques are used both for network level bridge asset management and for project level in detailed bridge diagnostics. NDT techniques that are mainly used in these diagnostics are GPR data analysis, thermal camera surveys and laser scanning.

An Innovative Package for Quality Assurance Against Asphalt Thermal Segregation. The RD Paver system is designed for real-time monitoring and storage of asphalt paving temperature and paver speed data. The main purpose of monitoring this information is to minimize problems caused by thermal segregation leading to the development of high asphalt air voids content.

Monitoring seasonal changes: Damages caused by seasonal changes and freeze-thaw process are the most significant factor affecting the road condition of northern cold climate road networks in Europe, Asia and North America.  It can be stated that 60-80 % of the distresses appeared during spring when the road is weakest. Since year 2000 Roadscanners has offered Percostation services in Finland, Sweden and Scotland for monitoring seasonal changes, making forecast for spring thaw weakening and providing weekly reports on the current status of road structure and subgrade moisture content and the risk for permanent deformations under heavy axle loading.
