Scientific Analytical Institute services
Asbestos Analysis
SAI’s state of the art Asbestos Laboratory provides quality analytical results with turnaround times as rapid as 90 minutes for PLM samples and 3 hours for TEM samples. In order to provide the most accurate results, SAI has selected the best available scientific equipment for our laboratory.
Environmental Microbiology
SAI’s Microbiology Laboratory has the distinction of being accredited by AIHA’s Environmental Microbiology Program (EMLAP). Accreditation by AIHA demonstrates that a laboratory is in compliance with the ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E) general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
Lead Analysis
SAI’s Environmental Lead Laboratory is fully accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), meets HUD requirements, and is recognized by the Environmental Lead Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELLAP). ELLAP is an approved lead laboratory accreditation program under the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Lead Laboratory Accreditation Program (NLLAP). AIHA accreditation also proves we fully meet the 2005 ISO 17025 (E) standards.
Hexavalent Chromium Analysis
What is Hexavalent Chromium?Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) compounds are a group of chemical substances that contain the metallic element chromium in its positive-6 valence (hexavalent) state. Generated anthropogenically, Cr(VI) readily penetrates biological membranes. Occupational exposures to Cr(VI) occur during the production of stainless steel, chromate chemicals, and chromate pigments. Cr(VI) exposures also occur during other work activities such as stainless steel welding(particularly stick welding), thermal cutting, chrome plating, painting, and coating processes. Furthermore, chromium is found in many natural materials such as limestone, which is used to make portland cement.
Silica Analysis
Respirable Silica, Whole Rock, and Materials by XRDSilica AnalysisX-Ray Diffraction analysis (XRD): A mechanism for identifying both the type and quantity of crystalline materials. Our AIHA Accredited Industrial Hygiene Laboratory is highly qualified to perform diffraction analysis of minerals, environmental samples, and materials. The XRD department has top-notch geologists, materials scientists, and mineralogists on staff, and perhaps the finest X-Ray Diffractometer system currently being manufactured in the world. SAI stands well beyond capable of detecting and identifying all crystalline mineral phases of your samples.
Forensics and Materials
Analytical Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) is primarily used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of organic compounds, and also for determining the chemical structure of many inorganic materials.
Scopes on Site
SAI provides a unique SOS® (Scopes On Site) program for mobile microbiology analysis of spore traps and direct exams. Our convenient, personalized SOS® program is ideal for certain projects such as final clearances and other highly time-sensitive jobs. SOS® allows our clients to quickly obtain results that are imperative in effective decision making. This approach eliminates lost time associated with transporting samples to the laboratory and therefore permits the rapid return of analytical data to our clients.
