Portable devices are those intended to be moved regularly, but not necessarily for handheld use. Portable device design has requirements of rugged packaging, being relatively compact and lightweight, and sometimes requires battery operation. Handheld device design must ensure that the device can be comfortably held by a person and has a number of added constraints: very lightweight, intuitive to use, easily read display, button presses and touchscreen use must not be fatiguing, usually battery operated, can’t get too warm to hold, and more.

SECO USA designs and delivers customized remote control systems, including unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) controllers and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) controllers that meet the varied needs of military, government, first responder, and commercial sectors. Whether tethered to the vehicle or providing control through a radio communications link, each of these handheld controllers is precisely engineered for ergonomics,  low latency, a variety of electronic and electromechanical features, and performance in extreme environments.

Based on the NXP™ i.MX 6 quad or dual package-on-package (PoP) processor, SECO USA created the ultra-compact Fury-P6™ single board computer (SBC). The Fury-P6 offers an on-board LCD interface, resistive touchscreen interface, Wi-Fi (802.11 ac dual band with enterprise encryption), Bluetooth dual mode (BLE v4.2), eMMC flash memory, audio, battery management/charging, and sensor connection without the need for an additional carrier or daughter card. All this functionality is provided within a compact 2.75” x 2.0” circuit board outline. Additional peripheral interfaces are available via stacking connectors intended for connection to custom daughter cards.
