OSRO Response Services

Ship Services has maintained an OSRO rating with the USCG and the state of California since 1991.Through the years we have responded to numerous spills nationally. Some of the most recent were the Costco Busan, Dubai Star, and most notably the MC 252 BP spill in the Gulf of Mexico where Ship Services had vessels, skimmers, boom, and personnel from Texas to Florida. Ship Services responded to each of these spills in a broad range of rolls, from boom and skimming vessels to Air Ops and ICS positions. Ship Services maintains a number of ICS trained personnel to fill any position of an IMT (Incident Management Team) as well as certified Aerial Observers.

Incident Command System Spill Management Team

Ship Services maintains a number of employees trained and certified to the ICS structure. We are listed on a number of response plans to fill operations positions. Most notably, Air Ops on the Cosco Busan and Dubai Start, as well as, a wide array of operations positions in many locations throughout the Gulf of Mexico during the MC 252 oil spill response.

AMPD Coverage

As an OSRO Ship Services has developed a team of well-trained responders throughout the State of California that are ready to respond to an oil spill anytime of the day 24/7. we have an office dedicated to AMPD response in Benicia, CA. we cover facilities in the Carquinez Straits as well as vessels in San Francisco’s anchorage 9. In addition to our Lightering and Bunker booming services we also provide AMPD coverage to a number of facilities in the Los Angeles and Long Beach harbors.

Decon Facility

Ship Services maintains (2) two secure facilities: one in Los Angeles Harbor and the other in Benicia, CA. Each of these facilities are very well suited for both DECON and equipment staging areas. We have ample land based areas, as well as, in the water work areas, cranes, forklifts, 24 hour security, and supervision.

Preventative Containment Booming

Ship Services provides preventative oil spill containment boom services for Los Angeles and Long Beach Harbors, Port Hueneme, Channel Islands Harbor, as well as, the San Francisco Bay and Delta. This includes deployed booming at berth or at anchor, standby booming at berth or at anchor, AMPD Coverage, and Shoreline Protection.
