In Azé in 1971, Edouard Gohier and his wife founded SODISTRA (Société d’Isolation et de Stratification). The very first insulating units in composite materials were manufactured in a 700 m2 room: sandwich panels, ventilation ducts and floating pontoons, etc. In 1985, Sodistra counted 12 people among their staff. In 1990, the product range was enhanced with air handling units.

In 1990, Philippa Gohier took over the company. His drive led to further development for Sodistra. A new production site was built at Château-Gontier and was then expanded in 1994, 2000 and 2002. This, in fact, made it possible to move progressively towards the industrialization of the business. In 2013, Erwan Coatanéa and his wife took over from Philippe Gohier to head the company and continue the project with a staff of 35 people.
