SOR is a global leader in the field of measurement and control. One big reason for the continued growth of SOR is our willingness to listen to our customers’ specific needs and develop solutions to meet those needs for the Oil and Gas, Power Generation and Nuclear industries. In fact many of the switch and transmitter products we deliver are specially engineered to order. SOR manufactures a wide variety of mechanical and electronic devices to measure and control pressure, level, temperature and flow – and we’re working constantly to improve our product platform.

SOR has a strong culture and the fundamentals of doing business are deeply entrenched. It’s not just a single quality; it’s a combination of attributes that make this company whole.
“We are reliable.” – SOR products have stood the test of time in the field and personnel are always ready to assist.
“We keep our promises.” – Products will ship to you when we say they will.
“We act with a sense of urgency.” – There are countless stories about SOR employees going above and beyond to get products to customers in critical situations. What is important to you is important to us and we will go out of our way to help solve any problem.
“We focus on helping the customers.” – Every decision is made with the customer in mind. We engineer, design, manufacture, test and ship your product with your industry application in mind.
Perhaps the most important value is to put the quality of relationships with customers, associates, agents and representatives. This is displayed by the large number of employees that have worked at SOR for decades and consider it home.

The rugged quality and durability of SOR products have been at the center of the company’s global success in measurement and control for many decades. Why? Because our field personnel and customer service representatives take the time to listen to what you specifically need to get the job done. Often that results in taking a standard product and re-designing it to fit your individual application. At SOR, flexibility is nothing out of the ordinary – it’s how we do business every day. In fact, most of the products we deliver are made to order. And with our in-house machine shop and on-staff engineers, flexibility moves with even greater speed.
Honesty – It’s no secret why our current customers keep coming back. SOR delivers the most reliable products backed by the most impressive warranties in the industry. And unlike many companies that try to sell you a more expensive product, we give you exactly what it takes to get the job done. If you don’t need the extras, we’ll be the first to let you know. To sum it up, we’re easy to do business with.

Once we find an exceptional employee, we hold on tight. And once they’re part of the team, SOR employees seldom leave. We have many employees who have worked at SOR for more than two decades, and we believe their dedication and service should be recognized. When you speak to one of our customer service representatives, you’ll quickly discover that they know what they’re talking about. That’s because the average SOR customer service rep has been with us for more than a decade. What People are Saying About SOR
In an age where many companies are facing economic challenges, SOR is developing new products and expanding into new markets. Approximately 53% of all the products manufactured are exported outside North America. SOR not only continues to survive, but thrive. SOR CEO Mike Waters was interviewed by “TEN” magazine – the official publication of the Federal Reserve’s 10th district about the slowdown in China’s economy and its impact.
Several other publications have taken notice of SOR. The Kansas City Star included SOR in a feature article that focused on successful suburban businesses. The Kansas City Business Journal also profiled CEO Mike Waters for two business acquisitions and recently listed SOR as one of the top area manufacturers in Kansas City. “TEN” magazine profiled SOR for strength of manufacturing in the Midwest United States.Community Consciousness
At SOR, you won’t find a more concerned and caring group of people. Several times a year we’ll serve breakfast or hold a bake sale (SOR employees are really good cooks, too!) with the proceeds going to help a local community, church or school build a new playground or baseball field. Employees are constantly organizing efforts to fight life-threatening diseases or provide food and clothing to the needy. One SOR employee recently hiked 12.5 miles through the Grand Canyon to help raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.Teamwork
Most of the employees at SOR have worked in other parts of the shop. This cross-training builds teamwork because they know what to expect from other stages of the production process. (It also results in a better product.) Management is also focused on the team concept. Employees are empowered to do their jobs and encouraged to suggest ways to improve. Leadership is committed to always being available, approachable and willing to listen.
