SpecialtySteel ABRACLAD - Model 60 - Wear Resistant Chromium Carbide Overlay Plate
Abraclad plates, specifically ABRACLAD 60, offer an innovative solution to combat heavy wear in industries such as mining, quarrying, and earthmoving. These plates consist of a base construction steel, S235JR, overlaid with a weld-on layer containing robust chrome carbides. The primary alloying components, carbon, and chromium, combine to form hard chromium carbides during cooling. The presence of silicon, manganese, and niobium further reinforces the matrix. Starting with a minimum hardness of 60 Rockwell C, Abraclad plates are particularly suited for highly forceful processes, enduring three to five times longer than conventional AR 400 plates. They are adaptable for diverse applications, including environments subjected to erosion, corrosion, or high temperatures, with thickness variations ranging from 5.0 mm to 8.0 mm. These overlay plates can be cut with plasma or waterjet but not with laser, and are available in both standard and custom dimensions.
SpecialtySteel COR-TEN - Model A - Weathering Steel
COR-TENĀ® A is a type of weathering steel pioneered by United States Steel Corporation, known for its atmospheric corrosion resistance and tensile strength. This steel alloy integrates elements like copper, chromium, nickel, and phosphorus, forming a protective oxide layer or patina that enhances corrosion resistance upon exposure to atmospheric conditions. The patina forms over 2 to 6 years, providing a sealed surface that prevents further oxidation. Originally introduced in 1933 as a versatile structural steel, COR-TEN A provides a yield strength of at least 345 Mpa and a tensile strength of a minimum of 485 Mpa, enabling the design of lighter structures. Its applications span various industries, including architecture and railways, due to its aesthetic appeal and cost-efficiency compared to stainless steel. SSAB now produces the contemporary version of COR-TEN A, meeting S355J0WP standards, with certifications ensuring quality and sustainability. Its continued use in tandem with paint coatings solidifies its utility in modern construction requirements.
SpecialtySteel - Model Protection 500 - Ballistic Steel for Human Protection
Protection 500 is a highly advanced ballistic steel known for its robust protective capabilities against threats like blasts, explosions, and direct impacts. Developed over years of intensive research, it serves both civilian and military sectors, emphasizing human safety. Certified to meet international ballistic standards such as EN 1522/1063, VPAM 2007, Stanag 4569, and MIL-DTL-4600/12560, its efficacy is well-proven. Characterized by its chemical composition and mechanical properties, it features a variable thickness range from 2.5 mm to 40 mm, with a consistent hardness range and high yield strength. The steel's performance extends to a range of ballistic tests involving various calibers at defined shooting speeds, ensuring extensive protective coverage. The product is readily available in specific dimensions with further options available upon request, underscoring its versatility and adaptability in diverse scenarios demanding rigorous ballistic resistance.
SpecialtySteel SLIPNOT - Anti-Slip Safety Flooring
SLIPNOT is an advanced metal-to-metal slip resistant surface designed to enhance safety on flooring, particularly in areas like walkways, entryways, stairs, ladders, and more. Deployed across environments ranging from food and beverage manufacturing plants to high-traffic office buildings and retail spaces, SLIPNOT dramatically reduces the risk of trips, slips, and falls, potentially decreasing such incidents by over 90%. This surface is engineered with various metal substrates, including ASTM A36 / S235JR+AR, and available in three grades of coarseness to match specific requirements. The coating options include Steel on Steel, Stainless Steel on Stainless, and Aluminum on Aluminum, with variants such as Steel on Aluminum and Stainless on Aluminum also offered. Engineered parts equipped with SLIPNOT, such as gratings, perforated sheets, and stair nosing, provide robust safety solutions ideal for industries with a high emphasis on efficient and secure environments.
