The manufacturer of a beverage dispenser wanted to improve the taste of the beverage by filtering the source water. The challenge was to develop the filter system and media for the product working within the appliance product itself; without changing molds or water flow. Surfatas developed (designed and contract manufactured) a proprietary and sizeable (universal or "one size fits all") filter media with high flow rate for the customer.

An environmental science company providing remediation solutions for contaminated soil and groundwater sought to boost the heavy-metal adsorptive performance of their treatment formulations. Surfatas provided two additive candidates known for their broad spectrum efficacy of dissolved heavy metals, and the resultant optimized treatment formulas per lab and field studies exceed reduction performance levels for the targeted heavy metal contaminants.

Surfatas provided functional additives: (a) an EPA-registered antimicrobial to inhibit aesthetic microbial growth on the filter media, and (b) a molecular sieve to adsorb household odors - in a compatible form for incorporating into polymer substrates by the vendor’s manufacturing processes.
