About the company name
The abbreviation IVL in IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute stems from our former company name in Swedish ' Institutet för vatten- ochluftvårdsforskning', which means the institute for water and air research.
When the scope of the work done at IVL gradually broadened beyond water and air issues, the company name was eventually changed into IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute. IVL was kept in the new company name due to the excellent reputation IVL was associated with.
In Swedish, the company name is IVL Svenska Miljöinstitutet.
IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute is a limited company owned by the Foundation for IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute (SIVL).
