The Swamp School, LLC Past Events
This past year has been a challenge to keep up with all the wetland regulatory and technical procedural updates. We have seen a new Waters of US definition go into effect, new Nationwide Wetland Permits have been released in draft form, and we have a new National Wetland Plant list. In addition there have been over two dozen USACOE technical reports published in 2020 that have wetland related topics. There has also been new USACOE Navigable Water Protection Rule Guidance issued from Headquarters that is slowing making its way across the country.
The process for identifying wetland hydric soil indicators can be a bit of a challenge. There are a lot of indicators to choose from and can seem overwhelming at times. Without a system to follow, wetland delineators are left thumbing through dozens of pages looking at hundreds of indicator variations. All the while worrying if they have missed something.
The Swamp School is pleased to announce its newest online and field training program that is designed to help you learn your wetland plants. This program is a certificate series of online and field workshops that can be done at the convenience of your home or office. No out of area travel is required!
An Ecological Risk Assessment is the practice of determining the effects of human caused changes on animals, plants, and the environment. A properly conducted assessment will allow you to prioritize the actions that you will take to mitigate risk. Ecological risk assessments should be conducted whenever any earth disturbances could potentially alter important features of ecological systems.
