Model 5,000 TPY - Small Scale Chlorine Plants

Small-scale chlorine plants are becoming important for chlorine consumers, driven by the economic development of rural areas and the increasing pressure to regulate liquid chlorine transportation. Feasibility for such plants is driven by the reduced investment cost, automated operation, energy efficiency and a limited environmental footprint.

Model 15,000 TPY - Skid Mounted Plant

The design of our skid-mounted plant is based on the integration of standardized functional groups (e.g. brine purification, electrolysis with catholyte circulation and brine dechlorination, waste gas dechlorination...), allowing flexible plant layouts to fit specific customer requirements. thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers, together with AkzoNobel, has developed a standardized skid-mounted chlor-alkali plant with a design capacity of 15,000 mtpy chlorine. Typical applications are for salt to bleach or salt to HCl production or where limited quantities of caustic and chlorine are required.

Skid Mounted Brine Treatment Plant

Brine purification is a fundamental step in the operation of a membrane chlor-alkali plant. Brine purity is important for the overall lifetime of membranes and electrodes, as well as power consumption and energy efficiency. thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers has a broad range of experience in brine treatment both for NaCl and KCl, with the possibility to design brine purification systems according to the salt available from different sources. Skids for brine filtration and super purification with ion exchange resins have been designed with a compact layout, maximizing the construction work in our qualified workshops to reduce site installation activities. The systems are pre-tested to the maximum extent possible to guarantee high quality standards.

Skid Mounted Chlorine Plants

In skid-mounted chlorine plants from thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers the chlorine and hydrogen cooling and filtration systems are integral part of the electrolysis group. For the production of HCl or sodium hypochlorite, no further treatment is necessary for those gases. If dry chlorine is requested for downstream processes or chlorine liquefaction, a dedicated chlorine drying system is necessary. Our chlorine drying system is based on the use of a proprietary single drying tower, where the drying efficiency of high-concentration sulfuric acid is maximized by the special internals. This design has the advantage of reduced capital cost versus the traditional design with two towers, and a more compact footprint.
