Thermographic Inspection Services

Thermographic Electrical Inspections Services

Thermography is a tool for recording nearest surface temperatures and our expert engineers have the ability to correctly set up their cameras with the right object parameters for the given situation. Our high level training ensures that we correctly assess the inspection and apply the required thermographic technique. We will ensure that the correct object parameters are input prior to any inspection commencement including emissivity, ambient and t-refl temperatures, distance, humidity and any other associated values required for accurate thermographic image interpretation. We offer premium grade thermography for any application where there is either a temperature or emissivity differential so that anomalies can be observed and expertly reported on utilising one of our purpose built TICOR modules.

Thermographic Building Inspections and Breaam Services

Thermographic surveys are now a feature of BREEAM – the world’s foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings. BREEAM sets the standard for best practice in sustainable building design, construction and operation. BREEAM New Construction and BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment programs both recognise the benefit of a thermographic survey by awarding credits for a Level 2 certified thermographer carrying out a suitable thermal survey.

Oil & Gas

Sand Level Tank Inspection

Certain vessels suffer from a build up of sand deposits inside and it is sometimes difficult to know when to open the vessel and remove the deposits. Thermal imaging provides a quick and easy method of clearly identifying these levels. The survey that we provide is unique in that we offer three very important details: We have the ability to measure where the sand level is on the separator. We offer trending between periodic inspections so that the differences between inspections can be easily tracked. Each report will contain upto 4 of the latest thermographic images taken for that area of the separator. We offer summary reports with our interpretations of sand level onto separator specific drawings so that the process engineers have a clear and quick understanding of the problem.

Pipe Integrity

Using basic thermographic principles it is possible for us to show areas of scale build – up, decreasing pipe wall thicknesses and weld discrepancies.

Cathode Protection Assessments

Where sacrificial anodes/cathodes are used we can quickly and easily detect areas where there may be a break/short in the circuits. The above images were taken at varying distances of the same target. They show an area where the Cathodic titanium mesh is broken and is arcing due to the electrical current passing through. This area is very small at less than 2″ diameter. A short circuit from a break in the Cathodic mesh forms a thermal anomaly visible on the outer concrete layer itself removing the need to strip it all away. Savings on this application can be extremely significant.

Corrosion Under Insulation

Corrosion under Insulation can be extremely harmful within the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. Tankers and vessels contain highly hazardous liquids and gases that are processed through plant pipelines. This is an exciting area developed in order to assist with the location of likely areas of CUI. Using specific techniques, we can bring to attention areas where CUI is likely to form. We have worked with numerous oil and gas companies providing thermographic solutions for pipeline condition monitoring and in-depth inspections and testing for the integrity of insulated pipelines and vessels are processed through plant pipelines.

Optical Gas Imaging Services

The use of a cooled thermal imaging camera with high sensitivity and with specific mechanical filters set to detect gases relevant to the oil and gas industrial sector. See your gas leaks in a thermal image as a still radiometric .jpg or non-radiometric video file. Having worked for a decade supplying the Oil & Gas industry with thermographic solutions we have built up a strong expertise in this sector. We are committed to offer the best service to meet our client’s needs in electrical, mechanical, process and particular sand/sludge level measurement and trending in separators or vessels. We have been involved with developing OGI for one of our leading clients in the oil and gas sector which included supply of equipment and training for a significant number of their leading technical engineers.

Electrical

Electrical Thermal Imaging

What’s Involved In An Electrical Thermal Imaging Survey? An Electrical thermal imaging survey is a non-evasive and non-destructive procedure using  infrared technology. Using infrared technology on electrical infrastructure is a renowned method of predictive maintenance and done correctly it can be effective at fault finding prior to equipment failure but it needs to be carried out correctly. Our strict protocols ensure that the faults we document are indeed items that require investigation and possibly remedial work and not simply loaded circuits manifesting temperature.

Electrical Inspection And Testing

The Electricity at Work Regulations of 1989 requests a “duty of care” on landlords and employers to maintain electrical systems to prevent danger. Thermal imaging is a widely used method as it can identify problems that the naked eye cant and it is non-invasive or intrusive. Thermal imaging can detect potential problems within the electrical distribution system without the need to isolate circuits. Images can be taken of key components captured in a thermal image and a digital image. Thermal imaging gives you the ability to carry out live testing whilst meting your obligations under legislation.
