Ultra Electronics Communication and Integrated Systems products
Satellite Earth Stations
An industry leader in mobile and flyaway satellite earth stations, GigaSat – part of Ultra Electronics CIS - creates products to take on the harshest environments in the world, from the Sahara to Mt Everest. All products are manufactured exclusively at GigaSat’s UK factory, dramatically reducing production time from an industry standard of months to a matter of several weeks. The stringent in-house production has also enabled GigaSat to receive the highest certifications of MIL-STD-810 and WGS.
Manpacks
On the front line, struggling with a communications terminal should be the least of a soldier’s worries. That’s why GigaSat’s manpacks are especially designed for use in a high pressure environment because frankly, there may be more important things on a soldier’s mind. The featherweight MicroVSAT family – a barely there 10kg (22lbs) – are market leading in their ability to be carried as airline checkable luggage. With a flat panel or conventional antenna and manual satellite acquisition, the MicroVSAT family are ideal for emergency telecommunication services and front line military use.
Medium Earth Stations
You think your environment is tough? Our flyaway antennas are tougher. Engineered to withstand the harshest environments in the world, from the Sahara Desert to Mount Everest, our antennas can take on any challenge, whether military or commercial. GigaSat’s Flyaway antennas are trusted by government organisations worldwide due to their extreme temperature tolerance and ruggedised, weatherproof design. The range also features MIL-STD-810G certification; providing the highest quality assurance available.
Recording Systems
With over one billion field recording hours, Ultra SSS is a market leader in data recording and analysis solutions. Ultra’s 50,000 recording channels have been successfully integrated throughout Air Traffic Control (ATC), Defence, Law Enforcement, Command & Control centres and Courtrooms. Highly specialised in ATC recording, Ultra’s latest recording software, the AudioPC ATC Suite, has evolved from Ultra’s fifteen years of digital recording experience. By using Service Orientated Architecture (SOA), all recorders can be remotely configured, controlled, monitored and administered from a single, easy-to-use web interface; AudioPC Navigator.
Wireless Telemetry- Data
Data Link - Specialist Data Telemetry Transceiver
The Data Link 450 transceiver is a miniature high-quality module for data and telemetry transmission in the less-congested rural markets where distance of communication is the most important factor. Combining sensitive receiver circuitry with a matching 500mW RF transmitter section, this module will find use in short-, medium- and long-range applications. Such a power level will deliver a very effective increase in range performance over lower-power wideband devices while balancing the need for battery economy in portable applications. The modules are housed in small lightweight screened enclosures with multi-way connection interface for either cable or direct pcb mounting. This electrical screening ensures full compliance with current EMC regulations. Frequency control is achieved using modern low-noise PLL synthesiser techniques with non-volatile storage of frequency data, allowing serial and parallel frequency selection.
CLASS1C - Crystal Based Transceiver
The CLASS1C 850 transceiver is designed to be a low-risk, cost-effective building block module for high-volume OEM applications requiring radio connection, including use in the 868-870MHz pan-European band. The CLASS1C 850 gives 10mW RF output, ideally suited for use in today’s crowded radio telemetry bands. This resilient module exceeds the minimum requirements defined in EN 300 220 Category 1. The crystal-based design allows much lower power levels which are more than adequate for short-range applications. The very fast start up sequence further reduces the power needed and as a combination could lead to lower maintenance costs. The receiver section benefits from excellent sensitivity figures, low current consumption and excels in congested environments.
Transceiver Modules
The T Series modules provide a cost effective, high-quality radio transceiver to exceed North American and equivalent radio telemetry specifications. Today’s crowded frequency spectrum creates increased potential for both in and out-of band interference. This threat places demand on radio module performance. The T Series modules address this challenge by providing synthesised frequency agility in association with good large-signal handling characteristics. These modules offer good receiver sensitivity: 2W or 5W RF output and a wide choice of frequency variants. Interface connections are industry based D type and BNC. The T Series offers on-board channel storage or dynamic external frequency loading, ‘S’ meter output and receiver data recovery circuit. The engineering integration and attention to detail has ensured the T series offers a radio transceiver at a cost-effective price that will out-perform other low-cost imports to the US market.
Commercial Transceivers
The SX range of transceivers are designed to be low-risk, cost-effective building block modules for high volume OEM applications requiring radio connection, including use in the 868-870MHz pan-European band. Ideally suited for use in today’s crowded radio telemetry bands, these resilient modules exceed the minimum requirements defined in EN 300 220. The SX100G gives 50mW RF output, the SX500G 100mW and the SX800G is reduced to 25mW. This matches the recommended bandplan at 868MHz. Such power levels are more than adequate for short- and medium-range applications.
Professional Transceiver
The SX series transceivers are miniature high-quality modules for data and telemetry transmission. These resilient modules not only satisfy EN 300 220 but also the more demanding EN 300 086 specification. This enables the units to be sold throughout Europe for both licensed and unlicensed telemetry, data and voice applications. The modules conform to the RoHS (lead-free) directives. The addition of a suitable modem will allow EN 300 113 approval to be gained. Please refer to the RSX Modem brochure. Combining sensitive receiver circuitry with matching 500mW RF transmitter sections, these modules will find use in short-, medium- and long-range applications. Such a power level will deliver a very effective increase in range performance over lower power wideband devices while balancing the need for battery economy in portable applications.
