Logs come into the step feeder from the log infeed deck. The step feeder separates the logs to load a single log into the infeed conveyor. Each stroke of the step feeder will pick up a new log at the bottom, and discharge one log at the top.

The Log Master Carriage offers heavy-duty construction that stands up to the most demanding sawmill environment. Log Master uses servo-controlled linear positioners for precise knee alignment, and features straight line positive dogging to eliminate potential mis-cuts. Choose from two to five knees that can slide with minimal friction on linear bearings for fast log positioning. Knee openings allow any log size from 30" to 42" (76 to 107 cm) in diameter. Our unique round rail system insures precise sawing for greater quality lumber. The controls are ready for 2D or 3D scanning systems thus enabling our carriages to achieve advanced sawing accuracy and higher recovery.

The lathe charger is integral to the veneer peeling process. The lathe charger chucks the geometrically centered block and rotates it for laser scanning BlockLogix while simultaneously raising and repositioning both ends optimally to maximize veneer recovery. A precision block pendulum precisely transports the block to the lathe spindles. This highly accurate positioning system allows for production speeds of up to 18 cycles per minute.

The new design accommodates the new high production 6-deck veneer dryer by moving from 60 veneer sheets per minute to 66. Individual spring-loaded feed wheels insure precise loading of veneer onto the dryer infeed. The feed-rolls are powered by a 3 hp motor and ACVS drive. Hydraulic cylinders on each side of the tipple provide smooth, fast and accurate indexing of the tipple from deck to deck using an alternate deck-feeding program.
