The Vitec 438A Electronic Vibration Switch is an economical approach to accurate and reliable vibration protection for rotating machinery. Designed primarily for the OEM market but of equal value to end users, this device is a full-function vibration monitor that can be bolted directly to a machine. The rugged cast aluminum enclosure houses an accelerometer sensing element and the hardware required to qualify it as a true vibration monitor. Standard features include alarm and trip shutdown relays and signal outputs for local or remote metering purposes, and a NEMA 4 cast aluminum enclosure. An optional explosion-proof housing can be specified for use in hazardous areas.

The Vitec 480 is a compact Vibration Switch which combines the functions of a Vibration Transducer, Transmitter and Monitor. It provides low-cost protection of rotating machinery by signaling users when excessive vibration levels exist, indicating developing machinery problems. Ideal for motors, fans, cooling towers and a wide range of general purpose rotating machinery and processing equipment.

The 2110 provides around-the-clock monitoring of machinery and processing equipment and warns operating personnel when predetermined limits have been exceeded. Individual bar graph displays give continuous indications of each channel, allowing the operator to view vibration, speed or other process variable levels at a glance. LEDs on the individual modules energize to indicate alarm, trip and pick-up status.

The Vitec 2110 Monitoring System has its roots from the early vibration monitors manufactured by the Reliance Electric Company over 40 years ago. The highlights of this history are summarized below:

The Vitec Model 655 Compact Balance Analyzer is used for in-place balancing, vibration measurement and stop-motion analysis of rotating machinery. Its color-coded front panel controls and 6.5 lb. weight make it an easy-to-use field instrument. A single switch selects one of four modes of operation: the Meter mode allows the operator to measure the overall level of vibration in displacement or velocity; the Strobe mode offers user-selectable strobe firing rates for stop-motion analysis; an Analyze mode allows the Model 655 to be tuned to specific frequencies for signature analysis. Balancing is accomplished in the phase mode. The tunable filter is based on a programmable digital LSI chip to give a high degree of accuracy and drift-free readings.

These portable units provide three modes of measurement for quick detection of low or high frequency vibration: displacement (mils), velocity (in/sec) and acceleration (G’s). Internal rechargeable batteries provide up to 40 hours of field use. An AC signal output allows for analysis with an oscilloscope or other signal analyzer. The Model 653A is a digital vibration meter with the added function of a bearing test mode which allows for early detection of defective anti-friction bearings (ball or roller) and gears.

The Vibration Transmitter is designed for use where continuous vibration monitoring of rotating equipment is required, but trending, alarm or trip functions will be performed by a Programmable Logic Controller, computer or data logger. Mounted directly to your rotating equipment, it generates a 4 to 20 mA DC signal proportional to the velocity of the machine vibration, transmitted over a simple 2-wire current loop. This allows long cable runs, up to 15 miles, for applications from remote pumping stations on pipelines to large facilities like refineries, steel mills and paper mills.
