Wärtsilä AQUARIUS UV Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) provides robust technology for the treatment of ballast water using a simple two stage process involving filtration and ultra-violet (UV) irradiation, across the full range of ship operating and environmental conditions. The system uses no active substances, is easy to integrate and maintain, and is type approved according to the IMO Convention and has an Alternative Management System (AMS) acceptance certificate from the USCG. It has also been verified for explosion proof (EX) requirements and can therefore be used on-board hazardous areas. Wärtsilä works in close cooperation with its customers, our BWMS partnership program covers all stages from fleet evaluation to lifecycle support. Open Loop Scrubber System

Low operating costs, reduced operational impact on the environment. Our scrubber system is based on the same technology as that used in Wärtsilä Hamworthy’s inert gas systems for more than 50 years. The system operates in an open loop utilising seawater to remove SOx from the exhaust.
