Deepwell Cargo Pumps for Gas Carriers
Our deepwell cargo pumps are the result of extensive research and have been developed specifically for LPG/ethylene, small LNG and combined LEG/chemical carriers.
Wärtsilä Svanehøj deepwell and booster pumps are intended for the four basic designs of LPG, ammonia, ethylene, ethylene/chemical and LNG carriers.
- Fully pressurised tankers, with the cargo at ambient temperatures and a tank pressure of up to 18 bar.
- Fully refrigerated atmospheric tankers, with the cargo cooled down to the saturation temperature, typically -48oC.
- Semi-refrigerated tankers, with the cargo maintained in liquefied form by a combined cooling/pressure process at temperatures down to -104oC.
- LNG tankers, with the cargo cooled down to -163oC
Our deepwell pumps are designed to meet the requirements for low temperature resistant materials, using a gas-tight shaft sealing system with a pressurised quenching fluid, and an extremely low NPSH to pump gases at a condition very close to their boiling point.
In addition to the deepwell pumps, nearly all gas tankers are equipped with one or two booster pumps.
The Wärtsilä Svanehøj range of pumps and pumping systems with frequency converter regulated electric motors is based on more than a century of experience and ongoing development activities. For liquid cargo handling, there is no better business partner.
