DLT and SDLT Tape Cartridges
The Digital Linear Tape (DLT) technology uses multi-linear track recording on industry-standard DLT IIIxt (15 GB) or DLT IV (20 GB) media. The DLT tape cartridge is a single spool cartridge, and spools the tape to a second take up spool located inside of the drive. This DLT tape system is the real difference between DLT and other linear tape technologies. DLT Tape Drives use a linear serpentine method of recording data on tapes. This means that the drive heads record data to the metal particle tape in straight lines to the end of the track . Rather than rewinding the entire tape and commencing data recording from the beginning, the tape head drops to the second track and records from the end to the beginning. Thus the `serpentine` motion. This saves time because there is no need to wait for a DLT Tape drive to rewind the tape before continuing to record. SDLT Tapes offer greater storage capacity and better performance than DLT Tapes.
LTO Tape
LTO (Linear- Tape Open) is a multi-million dollar collaboration between HP, IBM and Seagate. The LTO philosophy of openness and cooperation has ensured the backing of a wide range of tape drive, media and automation licensees, for an unprecedented level of competition within a single format. For customers, that means quality products, innovation and widespread availability at the best prices. The very best features of existing tape storage technologies have been incorporated and enhanced to create a new benchmark for data integrity and reliability. The LTO Tape Format is a high capacity tape format. Offering 200 Gigabytes of storage with a projected doubling of this storage every year (400GB in 2005) LTO has a 40MB/s transfer rate currently. These transfer rates are also projected to double each year. This exceptionally reliable, high performance format has been developed to meet many of the data protection needs associated with the explosion in information storage.
Tapes
3590 tape drive technology includes advanced Error Correction Code (ECC), servo track mechanisms, resident diagnostics, redundant parity checking, and read after write verification. 3590 Tape is supported for native attachment to Ultra SCSI, Fibre Channel, ESCON and FICON servers. Features an uncompressed drive data rate of up to 14MB/second Uses 3590 extended length tape cartridge for up to 180GB of 3:1 compressed data per cartridge. Use this chart to see what types of 3590 tapes we purchase regularly.
Tapes
WeBuyUsedTape offers the highest compensation for used or new 3592 tapes in the media industry. WeBuyUsedTape uses proprietary software developed by our company to assure that your data is completely scrubbed from your cartridges. By using this secure and effective method for destroying your data you will be in compliance with all regulatory agencies, including HIPPA, Sarbanes-Oxley and any other regulation regarding data security. 3592 tapes are some of the most desirable tape for resale, therefore you will realize very high returns for your used 3592 media.
AME Tape
Advanced Metal Evaporated ( AME ) tape continues to be one of the key enabling technologies for a wide range of industry-accepted tape storage and recording applications, including Sony`s innovative SAIT format. AME tape used by SAIT can read and write data reliably at very high densities through the use of pure cobalt magnetic material. Magnetic Particle (MP) media, used by conventional half-inch tape formats, is limited by particle size in the magnetic layer to achieve higher cartridge capacities. AME media used by SAIT imposes no such limitation and can enable SAIT to achieve more than twice the capacity of other half-inch tape formats. Also, AME tape`s use of a `Diamond-Like Carbon` (DLC) protective layer provides superb durability and long archival life. Twenty times tougher than a standard oxidation layer, DLC dramatically improves abrasion resistance and overall media and mechanism durability.
4MM 8MM Tape
Mammoth is a magnetic drive and data tape system for archiving and storing computer data. Mammoth Tapes use helical scanning to optimize storage and transfer rates. Some styles of Mammoth tape can hold up to 40 gigabytes of information when utilizing compression and transfers data at up to 6 megabytes per second. The tape measures 8mm across. We Buy Used Tape buys new or used AME Magnetic Tapes by all popular manufacturers including Exabyte, Sony, and IBM. We will give you the best price for your tapes.
Tapes
A 3480 tape drive is an 18-track cartridge tape device which does not have the data compression feature. A 3490 tape drive is an 18-track cartridge unit which has the data compression feature installed (with a few 36 track exceptions). A 3490E tape drive is a true 36-track cartridge unit. These tape drives actually write in 18-track mode down the entire length of a tape and then reverse to write again on a 2nd set of 18-tracks. This explains why rewind times can be very good for a full 36-track tape -- it`s actually back at the physical load point even though it`s at the logical End-of- Tape (EOT).
Half-Inch Tape Cartridges
9840 tape is the only half inch tape to contain a base plate. This aluminum base plate enhances cartridge stability and enables precise alignment between head and tape to ensure reliable data reading and writing. 9840 Cartridges are designed to protect against damage due to impact such as when a cartridge is dropped. The dual reel design divides the weight evenly so that an impact is absorbed more evenly than single reel models. This combined with small crush pads allow for a stronger tape cartridge. Advanced servo writing techniques enable 288 tracks to be written across the half inch wide tape. The advanced tape coating allows for greater amounts of information to be written to much smaller areas of 9840 tape.
