The approach for carrier retention sieves has evolved based on the practical experience. Early designs used vertically mounted stainless-steel flat-panel sieves. Now uses horizontally configured stainless-steel wedge-wire sieves in aerated MBBR applications, because the position and orientation of the sieve takes advantage of the media and process aeration grid for scouring.

The diffuser is the special design for MBBR aeration system. The coarse-bubble design is employed to mix the suspended media evenly throughout the reactor while providing the mixing energy required to slough old biofilm from the internal surface area of the media and maintain the dissolved oxygen required to support the biological treatment process. The material could be used SUS304 or SUS316L, the length is 600mm, the release boundary of each diffuser could achieve to 1250mm. The service life could be reach to 15 years.

The basic process is based on MBBR technology using Bio Media. There are many plants installed and satisfactorily operating on MBBR principle. MBBR has following advantages over other competing technologies. A reducing in the volume of the biological reactor because it uses a support or carrier that gives a high specific surface. They are very flexible processes since they are based on the percentage of plastic support used in the reactor, it is recommended that it is not greater than 70%, the surface can be modified and as a consequence the efficiency of the process.
