Before After Stages of Corrosion The stages of corrosion are stage 1 to stage 4 Services Chlorides are known to accelerate corrosion, even areas in the center of our islands experience corrosion as chlorides can travel up to 35 miles inland. These chlorides form a easy path for condensation to form i.e. in many of our homes and eateries a few grains of rice are mixed with the table salt shaker. The rice absorbs the moisture the salt (chlorides) attracts. Otherwise, the salt would not come out. Those same chlorides also work to accelerate corrosion of metals.
