Double Disc Assembly Brochure

Continental Double Disc Assembly 73-130Available in all standard materials, in all flange assemblies and ANSI ratings; standard, composite or reversebuckling discs.APPLICATION:Zero Leakage - A must with toxic contents or very valuable contents. Extremely corrosive conditionsor damage could cause the process exposed rupture disc to leak. A pressure gauge in the mid-flange would indicate the leak, while a second rupture disc maintains the system leak free. The firstrupture disc could then be changed out at an opportune time.Quick - Opening Device - By pressurizing the space between the two rupture discs in a Double DiscAssembly, one can obtain a quick opening device. Upon dumping the pressure between the twodiscs, full open area is obtained within a few milliseconds. The Double Disc Assembly, as a quickopening device, has been used in activating pressure systems, and to test systems for suddenpressure changes. Formulas on reverse side.Reaction Starter - The Double Disc Assembly has been used in applications such as testing liquidmedia which ignites on contact. In this situation, mixing two fuels prematurely could cause anunwanted explosion. By use of a Double Disc Assembly, the fuels could be contained separately untilthe Double Disc were activated to release the fuels into the system for ignition.PRICE - 1-3/4 times single disc assembly of same assembly, material and rating.DELIVERY - Same as standard assembly of same size and material.TECHNICAL DATA - See reverse side for how it works and design notes.FEATURES:Double SafeNo product loss from leakageImmediate shut down unnecessaryQuick opening valve on commandLower pressure discsNo moving partsFail SafeCONTINENTAL DOUBLEDISC ASSEMBLYDOUBLE DISC ASSEMBLY TECHNICAL DATAD1 = outlet disc in psigD2 = inlet disc in psigP1 = pressure between in psigP2 = operating pressure in psigThe operating pressure must be pre-determined.When application is Zero Leakage, P1 equals Zero.P1 = P2 - P1 =D1 D2P1 = P2 - P1 =D1 D2P1 = P2 - P1 =D1 D2Example:D2 = D1 P2 = 1000 psigP1 = P2 - P1 P1 = P2 = 1000 = 500 psig2 22 P1 = P2P1 = 80%P1 = P2 D12D1 =500= 625 psig.80D1 = D2 = 625 psig both discsDesign Notes:The smaller P1 and the smaller D1, the larger D2.The larger P1 and the smaller D2, the larger D1.Always use a pressure gauge in the mid flange, itis required by the ASME Code.Consult the CDC factory for additional informationor assistance.Double Disc Assembly for ReactionStarter or Quick-Opening Device.Double Disc Assembly for ReactionStarter or Zero Leakage.CONTINENTAL DISC CORPORATION • 3160 WEST HEARTLAND DRIVE • LIBERTY, MISSOURI 64068 • PHONE (816) 792-1500 • FAX (816) 792-2277/544770% for Standard disc80% for CDC or CDCV composite disc90% for reverse buckling disc11060001CD
