Gate valves are mainly used for on-off applications in industrial pipelines for petroleum, gas and chemicals. It is not suitable to be used for applications requiring flow controlling or constant adjusting where the valve will be in the partial open condition. The gate moves vertically up and down with either a rising or non-rising stem depending in the configuration between the fully open and fully closed. This valve has a compact width, but it taller than other types of valves.
