OUR SERVICE AREAS: Renewable energy Sustainable Development Biodiversity Property and Construction Marine and Coastal Water resources Environmental Management OUR SPECIALISMS: Environmental Impact Assessment Town Planning Ecology and Ornithology GIS mapping and analysis Noise and Acoustics Hydrology Project Management OUR DATA MODELLING SERVICES AWARD WINNING GIS SYSTEM Our geographic information system, SPIDA (Spatial Information Delivery and Analysis) is award winning. The Atmos GIS team collected a special achievement award in 2011 for their innovative use of ESRI GIS technology. Our GIS background encompasses both physical sciences and information technology, bridging disciplines and providing a unique and valuable insight into data analysis. The SPIDA system enables data management of geographically referenced information to be implemented in a range of innovative modelling and presentation techniques for site feasibility, optimisation and assessment. Key resources and analyses include: Cumulative visual impact assessment Bird collision risk modelling Regional site sieving and identification Ecological data management Constraints mapping Protected species mapping Habitat land-take calculations Landscape character mapping BESPOKE MODELS Our GIS experts provide a full advisory and support service to our project and ecological teams on all aspects of data management, analysis and visualisation. This facilitates the process of creating robust and repeatable techniques to ensure high data quality and transparent results. Specific models that have been developed include: GRID CONNECTION OPPORTUNITIES Identifies grid connection options for transmission and distribution networks. Calculates estimated fixed and variable costs for connecting to different voltages and indicates the remaining capacity at each substation transformer. CUMULATIVE VISUAL IMPACT Calculates the visibility added to the landscape by a wind farm in relation to the existing baseline and pending applications. Can be used to assess sensitive landscape receptors against a range of planning and development scenarios. EFFORT-CORRECTED ACTIVITY MODELLING Compares ornithological activity over multiple years of data, by removing bias introduced by geographical and temporal variations in survey effort. Can be used to assess environmental impacts over longer time periods such as post-construction effects on pre-existing baseline activity levels. MULTI-DISCIPLINARY PROJECT DELIVERY By working as part of an integrated team, we use our skills and understanding of often complex and interrelated environmental, technical and regulatory issues to determine the best solution for your project.
