HIGH SUSPENDED SOLIDS FILTRATION

High suspended solids are high concentrations of particulate matter that can cause increased sedimentation and siltation in streams or rivers. High suspended solids can come from many sources including natural erosion, runoff, agricultural practices, domestic and industrial wastewater discharge and pollution. Suspended particles such as metals and bacteria provide matter for other pollutants to attach or serve as indicators of other potential pollutants. High suspended solids in excessive concentrations can be harmful to the environment and toxic to important habitats for fish and other aquatic life.
