Technical Data Sheet I.N.D.I.A. INDUSTRIE CHIMICHE S.p.A. Nona Strada 55/57 35129 Padova Italia MEGALON WAX BLOCKS Ready-for-use rodenticidal wax blocks based on Bromadiolone For professional use Biocide PT 14 – Italian Ministry of Health Auth. no. IT/2013/00081/AUT Composition, 100 g product contain: Bromadiolone g 0.005 Denatonium Benzoate g 0.001 Palatable substances and co-formulants g 100 BROMADIOLONE family hydroxycoumarin derivative Mode of action By ingestion Activity Inhibits vitamin K1 and alters blood coagulation factors Species to control Rattus rattus, Rattus Norvegicus, Mus Musculus, field rats DENATONIUM BENZOATE, chemical name Benzyldiethy[(2,6-xylycarbomyl)methyl]ammonium benzoate Mode of action By ingestion Activity Makes substances extremely bitter Species that do not detect its presence up to 0.001 g per 100 g bait Rattus rattus, Rattus Norvegicus, Mus Musculus etc. Formulation In MEGALON WAX BLOCKS Bromadiolone is contained in a bait consisting of a balanced mix of edibles subtances and food-grade paraffin. This gives the bait remarkable resistance to humidity and temporary contact with water. MEGALON WAX BLOCKS, therefore, is suitable to be used in sites where traditional baits can develop mould and lose quickly their palatability (such as: cellars, frequently washed premises, outdoor areas, septic tanks, sewage channels etc.). The baits contain denatonium benzoate, which makes them extremely bitter hence discouraging ingestion by children and pets. The specific characteristic of denatonium benzoate is that it is not detected by the palate of rodents at concentrations like the one in MEGALON WAX BLOCKS. Species that can be controlled MEGALON WAX BLOCKS are accepted and consumed by all infesting rodents: rattus norvegicus, rattus rattus, mus musculus. Properties MEGALON WAX BLOCKS weigh approximately 20 grams and have a hole that facilitates their fixing inside bait dispensers. The shape of the edges is such that it facilitates biting by rodents. Bromadiolone belongs to second generation indirect anticoagulants and is marked by high toxicity for rodents, similarly to Brodifacoum. Its toxicity is effective irrespective of the duration of the bait consumption. According to literature, between 90% and 100% of rats fed for 1, 2 or 4 days with baits containing 0.005% Bromadiolone die. Technical Data Sheet I.N.D.I.A. INDUSTRIE CHIMICHE S.p.A. Usage rates and directions for use The product must be used at recommended rates as stated on the label. Do not touch the product with bare hands. Wear suitable gloves. Place the baits in a suitable tamper-resistant bait box to protect the bait from weather, to prevent non-target animals from swallowing the bait and to avoid bait release to the environment. Place bait boxes close to dens, along tracks and where presence is mostly observed. Bait boxes must be placed at a distance of 5-10 metres between them. Recommended rates are: House mouse: 2 baits per 100 square metres Grey rat: 3-5 baits per 100 square metres Black rat: 3-5 baits per 100 square metres Signal the area being treated and advise the poisoning risk and first aid measures. Replace bait boxes weekly, if necessary. Remove dead rodents daily and dispose of according to rules in force. The product is not aimed at permanent baiting. Arrange treatments to last for 6 weeks max. At the end of treatment dispose of remaining bait boxes according to rules in force. Warning Bait boxes must be positioned in a safe way, so as to minimise the risk of tampering and accidental swallowing by children and non-target animals. Make sure that the bait boxes are properly fixed and that baits cannot be dragged away by rodents. For the proper use of this product, follow the instructions given on the product label.
