The increasing need for CTP process management systems has become a necessity in the printing industry to handle these concerns. Many municipalities discourage high pH effluents, in most cases making it illegal. Processing CTP media requires a very high pH developer. Neutralization is an acceptable approach to meeting the local sewer requirements. The CTS Neutralizer System is designed to neutralize thermal or photopolymer developers without solidification. Use the Metering Collection Tank in conjunction with the CTS-V/T to allow complete draining on large tank or multiple processors. Silver-Based CTP media has an undesirable silver content in the effluent. Unlike film process-ing, the silver cannot be removed using a traditional silver recovery system. Most of the silver pre-sent is particulate with a minimum amount of dissolved or ionic. The Silver Removal Cartridge Module for the CTS Neutralizer System is designed to remove the particulate silver. Hardness and iron in wash water cause sensitive spots on plates and can be harmful to proc-essors and drains when combined with silicates in developers. This translates to cleaner plates, less processor down-time, and a significant reduction in labor to maintain the processor or rewash plates.
