M E D I A S P E C I F I C AT I O NCSO™, an activated alumina-based media shallconsist of manufactured, generally spherical,porous pellets measuring 1/8” in diameter.Pellets shall be formed from a combination ofpowdered activated carbon, alumina and otherbinders, suitably impregnated with causticchemicals to enhance the capacity for removal ofchlorine and sulfur dioxide. Impregnants shall beapplied during pellet formation, such that theimpregnant is uniformly distributed throughoutthe pellet volume. T H E C H E M I S O R P T I V E P R O C E S SThe chemisorptive process shall remove contam-inant gases by means of adsorption, absorption,and chemical reaction. Gases shall be trappedwithin the pellet where an irreversible chemicalreaction changes the gases into harmless solids,eliminating the possibility of desorption.R E M O V A L C A PA C I T YCSO™ media shall meet the following removalcapacities:• Sulfur Dioxide: 10% minimum by weight• Chlorine: 10% minimum by weightFor example, 100 pounds (45.36 kg) of CSOMedia will remove a minimum of 10 pounds(4.54 kg) of chlorine by weight.PURAF I L ESD CSO MEDIA , has been proven to offer a highremoval capacity for chlorine and sulfur dioxide gas.
