The Type 2 Turbidity Curtain is high quality barrier designed for use in moving water areas such as lakes, rivers, streams, dredging sites and other construction areas. Designed for maximum conditions of 1 knot water velocity, 2 foot waves, and wind at 30 mph, these curtains can be quickly deployed and implemented in USACE or DOT projects. Marine Construction Typical Type 2 Specifications Flotation 6” or 8” Marine Grade Flotation (depending on skirt depth) Fabric 18 oz. Reinforced Impermeable PVC Fabric Section Connectors Top Plate with Grommet Connectors Bottom Chain 5/16” Bottom Ballast Chain Tension Cable 5/16” Tension Cable Above the Float Skirt Depth 5’ Standard, 3’ to 20’ available depending on the depth of your water Accessories Tow Bridles, Anchor Kits, Floating Marker Lights, Reefing Lines Section Length: 50’ (15 meters) and 100’ (30 m), other sizes available on request Skirt: In stock: 5’ (1.5 meters), Sizes 3’ to 20’ available Flotation Element: Typically 6" or 8” flotation placed end to end in the top fabric pocket with consideration to allow folding for shipment and storage. (We recommend Polyethylene where barriers may come into contact with hydrocarbons) Fabric: 18 oz. Impermeable PVC (specification on request) Tension Cable: A 5/16" galvanized steel cable is sheathed in vinyl and seamed into the fabric above the flotation. The cable is terminated at the end of each section into a galvanized steel tension plate. Ballast: The ballast/tension member is a 5/16" galvanized steel chain enclosed in a fabric pocket at the bottom of the skirt. The ballast chain connects from one section to the other via shackles. Section Connector: Sections of Type 2 Barrier are joined together by connecting the top stress plate, skirt grommets and bottom stress plates. Top plates and bottom stress plates should be connected via shackles. Grommets should be connected together via zip ties. Anchor Points: Provided every 50 to 100 ft.
