Water reaches its boiling point and is evaporated away leaving the non-vaporized substances behind. Distillation has been in use for centuries. HF’s Low Temperature Distillation system evaporates the water in a vacuum reducing the boiling temperature to below 100 degrees F (38 °C). How does this technology work? Also called Vacuum Evaporation and Cold Vaporization, this technology is a rela-tively simple and robust method of purifying water. Contaminants are collected or reclaimed in this process by drawing the influent into a chamber (under vacuum) where evaporation occurs. The least volatile contaminants and solids remain in the chamber. The distillate is then collected for discharge, sent for additional treatment or re-used. This is a closed system and there is no exposure of either the purified water or the concentrate to the atmosphere. What advantages does it offer? • Enables the use of economical and durable materials such as aluminum alloy for heat transfer tubes, plastic process piping and epoxy-painted steel tanks. • Ability to use low cost/low-grade heat available through cogeneration to even more environmentally friendly. • No tube scaling issues associated with high temperature distillation systems and atmospheric evaporators. • Low energy costs because the heating and cooling is achieved using the compres-sion cycle. • Minimal requirements for intake and pretreatment systems. • Compounds that may be damaged by heat are pre-served. This allows distiller installation inside of plants and cooling coils to be mounted on an outside wall to allow for the exhausting of excess heat to the atmosphere. HF-PCS Vacuum Distillation Unit Type B Our most compact unit, the Vacuum Distiller with multistage evaporators has a capacity from 100 to 5000 gal/day. Out design exploits the vapor as a heating fluid and the distillate water as refrigerating condensing fluid. The system allows evaporation in a highly efficient manner. Another HF technology innovation is a tuned Secondary coil for recovery of other fluids with different temperatures of evaporations from that of water. Designed to placed out of doors, simply wire and plumb it and then start for fully automated, self contained operation. HF-PCS Vacuum Distillation Unit Type C Economics of this technology are enhanced in two ways: 1) The concentrate may be retrieved for reuse, and/or recycling. 2) The condensed water may be recycled. The tradition of research and technological innovations at HF provide important advantages to our customers and this is underlined by the constant effort in presenting new models, patents and plant designs. Three classes of units are available as follows: HF-PCS Vacuum Distillation Unit Type A Low Temperature Vacuum Distillation in with capacity from 100 to 5000 gal/day: the waste heating occurs by means of an external heat source such as available waste heat from normal plant operations. This technique allows HF vacuum distil-lation units to process at the lowest operating cost of any system available today. For more information call 800 421-5000 www.HFPureWater.com VACUUM DISTILLATION SYSTEMS Reflux Condenser HF’s patented technology that enables us to achieve higher concentrations of solvents that can then be economically sent for refining. Self Contained Our state of the art distillation systems are self contained. This means you will not have to add any extra ventilation to your facility to remove excess heat created by typical Vacuum Distillation Systems. You’ll have no worries about plumbing in other components due to this self-contained design. Real Time Monitoring Control Panel Designed around the Allen Bradley SLC 503 series, with integrated touch screen, control and real time monitoring, system navigation is a breeze and all information about system operations is fully accessible from the screen. Operation and alarm situations are easily identified and corrected. Also included is an industrial modem that allows us to troubleshoot programming changes and process parameters remotely. Super Efficient Plate and Frame Heat Exchangers Using HF’s systems design approach and with particular attention paid to heat balance and ongoing operational costs, we have integrated the most energy efficient Heat exchangers on the market today with U values up to five times higher that other manufactures heat exchangers. NEMA 4X Wash-down Rated Our skids can be used indoors and out, do not corrode and are unaffected by dust and hose-directed water. Fiberglass enclosures, Stainless Steel construction, electrical components and controls are all carefully selected to satisfy the most demanding requirements. Treatment of tumbling and pick-ling rinse waters. HF has waste treatment experience with a wide array of organic (and many inor-ganic) compounds found in industrial water, municipal water, groundwater, and landfill leachate. Treatment Includes: The proper match of process with compounds. Compounds vary greatly in their susceptibility to different processes. HF Group engineering has the experience and is equipped to test for and deliver systems based on the following three technolo-gies, Membrane, Advanced Oxidation, and Vacuum Distillation.. Complex wastewaters will often require more than one process for cost-effective treatment and HF is uniquely qualified to test and deliver integrated treatment systems. The most effective water or groundwater treatment approach is selected through a comprehensive testing program to ensure the full-scale implementa-tion will match laboratory results. HF has a complete lab with batch and continuous flow apparatus to test your water under realistic conditions (using bench scale and pilot scale testing) and develop the most eco-nomical process solution for your unique needs.
