API Storage Tank Conference & Expo 2012

SHARE

API’s annual Storage Tank Conference, preceded by a two-day Safe Tank Entry Workshop are educational programs that focus on the latest management practices for aboveground storage tanks.

API Safe Tank Entry Workshop (October 22-23)
Attendees learn the basics of ensuring safe tank entry and maintenance. Topics cover tank decommissioning, isolation, degassing, safe tank entry, cleaning, return to service, and associated work. This hands-on program also provides an understanding of atmospheric monitoring, with instruction in the operation, calibration, and maintenance of field instruments that sample and analyze levels of oxygen, gases, and vapors. Attendees have the chance to calibrate and use the instruments. NFPA will award 0.7 Continuing Education Units for each day of instruction.

SPCC 101 - Learn the Rule from the Guys who Wrote It (October 23)
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) will host a half day presentation by Mark Howard, US EPA OEM, to discuss the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) regulations (40 CFR 112). On October 7, 2010, EPA maintained the November 10, 2010 compliance date for drilling, production or workover facilities that are offshore or that have an offshore component, and for onshore facilities required to have and submit Facility Response Plans (FRPs). However, EPA extended the compliance date an additional year for all other facilities to amend or develop a SPCC Plan until November 10, 2011. Please refer to the EPA SPCC web page here. The purpose of this half day presentation is to provide a basic understanding of the SPCC requirements, including recent regulatory amendments. The USEPA will provide an overview of the regulations along with examples and explanations helpful in understanding and applying the regulations and amendments. USEPA encourages interested parties to attend, including regulated facilities, SPCC consultants/planners, and any other persons involved with SPCC compliance. 12:30 PM - 5:00 PM.

API Storage Tank Conference & Expo (October 24-25)
API is the world leader in tank standards. The annual API Storage Tank Conference provides attendees with new information on tank-related research, latest technologies, and API petroleum standards. The conference features multiple panels and speakers that will help you understand the requirements to maintain tank integrity while complying with new and existing environmental rules. Several members of the API tank standards committees will be onsite, allowing plenty of opportunities to network with colleagues and establish new business connections.
