    Soldering fumes are Unbreathable. Soldering enables the joining of metal parts by melting a filler metal to attach wires and other metallic components. The fumes generated from melting solder especially solder containing Lead or Tin present are dangerous and require local ventilation to remove harmful smoke from the work area. Soldering application need to be properly ventilated to prevent toxic fumes from reaching the worker`s breathing zone. There are a number of different industries such as the electronics assembly industry and electronics repair comapnies who must deal with the hazards of solder smoke. Fumes created by automated PCB soldering including wave soldering machines, handheld soldering irons, torch brazing and furnance brazing are often ignored because of the small volume of smoke generated. However, these applications still require careful consideration as dangerous fumes can impair employee’s respiratory tracts depending on the filler metals used. Because manual soldering applications require working with tiny components, workers end up positioning their heads right above toxic rosin or lead solder fumes with a direct exposure into their throat, nasal passages and lungs, and as a result, they can experience respiratory complications. Rosin irritation can cause various side effects and the inhalation of lead fumes is carcinogenic. As lead oxide smoke collects in your lungs, it can be transferred into your bloodstream. Diversitech recommends installing soldering fume extraction equipment to prevent the inhalation of dangerous fumes.     Monitoring sites at airports can be extremely challenging often with no power or telephone lines available and with limited access for maintenance. Chelsea’s robust UviLux Hydrocarbon Sensor with its low power consumption and high accuracy is ideally suited for this application. Installed at various locations around the airport, deployed with it’s own integrated anti-biofouling system, utilising the GSM network, the monitoring sites send data to a secure ftp site, where any internet enabled device can access the data. In this way the systems act as any early warning system allowing any hydrocarbon discharge to be detected in real-time.

    Optional environmental monitoring features include remote control to allow the user to turn equipment on and off, change the sample rate and detection range. There is also a facility to allow SMS text and email alarm notifications triggered by user-defined set-points together with customised web pages, data displays and automated data downloads via an ftp server.

    Airport runoff can contain high concentrations of various pollutants, in particular polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), the environmental levels of which have to be monitored. An understanding of the magnitude of contamination due to airport runoff water is important for the effective management of airport infrastructure.     Polymeric liners are prone to puncture by inclusions within the underlying soil. Thick, non-woven geotextile can be used to give protection to liners during installation. Often the upper slopes are exposed to damage and it is a good practice to cover these areas with a depth of soil which will sustain vegetation. Alternatively, a stone or concrete substance can be used to achieve a hard landscaped appearance. Our product will protect the liner from puncture whilst also providing a degree of slope stability.
