ClimateCHECK, a firm that provides greenhouse gas (GHG) management solutions for companies, organizations and governments, announces today that Steve McDonough has been hired as vice president of greenhouse gas management solutions. Steve’s addition is part of ClimateCHECK’s goal to build its presence in the North East U.S. and to enhance ClimateCHECK’s capacity to provide top quality GHG services.

Steve has worked in the environmental industry for the last 12 years in both the nonprofit and private sectors. During the last 6 years, Steve has focused in the areas of GHG management, sustainability, environmental managements systems, and environmental management information systems.

“Steve is a proven expert and strategic addition to ClimateCHECK’s services and solutions team. His understanding of technical and business development processes will accelerate the ClimateCHECK vision to “Set the Standard” for innovative GHG management solutions for enterprises motivated to achieve the double dividend of economic and environmental benefits”, said Tom Baumann, CEO and Co-Founder of ClimateCHECK.

Prior to ClimateCHECK, Steve worked as a consultant for Enviance, a leading environmental software company, where he lead the development of their GHG management solution based on WRI/WBSCD GHG Protocol for Corporate Accounting and various North American voluntary programs. Prior to that, Steve worked as the Regional Manager for Det Norske Veritas (DNV), a leading climate change certification organization, where he teamed with the US Director of Sustainability and Climate Change Services providing policy analysis, market research, standards interpretation, and business development support. In addition, Steve became accredited to be an ISO 14001 auditor and conducted EMS audits for numerous Fortune 500 clients. Steve received his MBA from the University of Massachusetts and a BS degree in environmental engineering from the University of Vermont.

“I am very familiar with Tom and Pat’s technical capabilities and GHG industry leadership while working with them at Det Norske Veritas,” said McDonough. “I look forward to rejoining their team and providing innovative and forward thinking solutions for a still evolving market.”
