Electrochlorination (EC) in water treatment involves using an electrolytic cell to generate chlorine or chlorine-based disinfectants from salt solution. These disinfectants are then used to treat water for disinfection purposes, eliminating harmful pathogens and contaminants. ABCO Water’s Electrochlorination (EC) plants provide an on-demand supply of less than 1% sodium hypochlorite solution, generated through the electrolysis of diluted brine solution. The sodium hypochlorite solution produced through this off-line electrolytic method is then used as a disinfectant.

ABCO Water’s Electrochlorination (EC) plants are used to disinfect water or wastewater in a storage tank by maintaining the required level of free chlorine for effective disinfection. The contents of the tank are recirculated with online monitoring of free chlorine and residual trim dosing of sodium hypochlorite to maintain an adjustable set point.
