With the AccelFOX ("Accel"eration FOX) you get one of the most advanced and flexible miniature data loggers of our time!

In its small impact- and water-resistant housing it combines a high-resolution MEMS sensor for accelerations (13-bit resolution: 3.9mg = 0.0039g), a precise air temperature and relative humidity sensor, a powerful RISC microcontroller, memory for more than 2 million measurement values, an accurate real-time clock and much more to an enormously powerful data logger analysis system. The AccelFOX`s integrated and calibratable acceleration sensor convinces with its extremely low power consumption, easy handling, small dimensions as well as high reliability, precision and resolution. By this means, even minor vibrations, shocks or position changes smaller than 1.0° can be reliably detected. Besides that, the patented FIFO memory (with 32x levels) allows the recording of measurement values even before a shock event occurs (pre-triggering)!

The data logger system can be attached quickly and easily to the object to be monitored using the provided housing brackets. After mounting the system, the data logger either starts immediately with the measuring task previously programmed on the PC or the recording is based on a flexibly selectable start and stop time. In addition, it is possible to start and stop the measuring system at any time contact-free using the supplied activation magnet.

After starting the measurement, the data logger records the acceleration in X, Y and Z direction as well as the relative humidity and air temperature. In this context, various modes for the analysis of the acceleration are available.

If desired, the data logger e.g. only becomes active, immediately "before" the occurrence of a shock (a vibration) and records this event in detail. When doing this, each event is stored in a separate file and can later be examined thoroughly.Sometimes measurements take place over many weeks, e.g. in the course of a transport. In this case the automatically generated overview diagram helps to easily assess the exact distribution of the shock events and their intensity. The system always keeps the last 2000 shock/vibration events in its internal memory.

In addition to the "triggered" shock recording (with or without overview diagram), there is also the possibility of a continuous extreme value analysis of the acceleration. This is particularly interesting for monitoring e.g. building vibrations. During the extreme value analysis, the data logger monitors the acceleration in all directions with up to 3200 measurements per second. While doing this, the largest of these thousands of acceleration readings is stored in a freely selectable rhythm, e.g. every 5 seconds. By this means, it is possible to determine very efficiently in terms of energy and memory, also over a long period of time, whether significant vibrations affect a building or not.

Referring to the DIN 4150-3: "Vibrations in the building industry" / Part 3: "Influences on building structures", reference values for the vibration velocity in the case of short-term vibrations on building structures are given. For commercially used buildings, a reference value of 20 mm/s is given here for a foundation frequency of 10 Hz. This corresponds to a direct vibration acceleration of 128mg which is clearly within the measuring range of the AccelFOX. If the limit values specified in the DIN 4150-3 are adhered to, building damages will not occur according to previous experiences.

The data logger can, of course, also be programmed in a way to continuously record the acceleration readings of all three axes (X,Y, and Z). Recording rhythms between 3200 times per second and 1 time per day are available for this purpose.

The recording was made by Benedikt Hermes, Steffen Hermes and Kevin Germies.

Together with the climate sensors, comprehensive and meaningful measurement data is already available after a short period of time. The fully calibrated intelligent CMOSens® sensor for temperature and humidity is characterized in particular by its optimised long-time stability, its high precision, reliability and its extremely fast response time of only a few seconds. For the recording of the climate data, a measuring rhythm between 1 time per second and 1 time per day can be selected.

The four standard micro AAA batteries integrated in the AccelFOX supply the data logger system with power for several years, depending on the configuration, and can be replaced by the user himself at any time. The status LED of the system always provides information about the current charge level of the batteries and the general status of the measuring system.

The data logger is programmed and evaluated using the universal SoftFOX software under Microsoft Windows® 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and all newer versions. After the AccelFOX has been connected to the computer via a PC interface cable, the data logger can be read out immediately or the system can be configured flexibly. The software offers numerous general functions such as dynamic project management, graphical data analysis, mathematical curve calculation, dew point calculation, absolute humidity, export function, data statistics, automatic backup, flexible zoom, guide lines,... but also special functions regarding battery monitoring, flexible memory allocation, offset calibration, and much more.

If you do not want to read out the AccelFOX data logger manually on site, you can also easily connect the measuring system with our mobile Remotefox - Remote Data Transmission System. This way, you regularly receive selected measurement data via mobile network service, internet and email even if you are hundreds of kilometers away from the measurement site.

As all our data loggers, the Remotefox also operates completely battery-powered and does not require any access to the power grid. This allows effortless stand-alone use, also for several weeks or even months! By this means, even very extensive and geographically dispersed long-term data recordings can easily and professionally be performed.

The fields of application for the AccelFOX data logger are almost unlimited and range from transport monitoring of sensitive goods, building monitoring during demolition or construction work, high-precision long-term climate monitoring, monitoring of e.g. flying objects to vibration and shock analysis of machines, technical equipment, warehouse monitoring and much more...
