Advanced Filtration Systems
The Skimoil Overboard Oil Protection System (OOPS) is designed to simply and economically remove oil contamination from the bilge water of boats. The filtered bilge water is discharged without creating environmental damage. The Skimoil System is simply installed between the bilge pump and the overboard through-hull-fitting, similar to installing a sea strainer. Used cartridges can be disposed of with normal solid waste (in a dumpster, for example) or taken to your local oil-recycle station.
Skimoil’s NEW Advanced Filtration Systems (AFS) are used in applications where strict water quality discharge regulations are mandated. Skimoil’s AFS, utilizing filters with patented oil removal technology, are engineered to remove hydrocarbons ranging from BTEX to crude oil from water.

The patented polymeric surfactant technology is used to infuse all filtration products. This treatment instantly bonds to petroleum based hydrocarbons to make them hydrophobic and viscoelastic - removing them completely from the water. The single-pass efficiency through the filter cartridges is 99.9% with almost no, (~0.5 psi), pressure drop across the cartridge from initial use to saturation.
In addition to the Advanced Filtration Systems, Skimoil also has available their Advanced Secondary Treatment Systems — a modular system that features activated clay and activated carbon filters to remove contamination and impurities from wastewater by physical adsorption.

The Advanced Filtration System is engineered to enhance the efficiency and capability of any oil/water separator system. The influent wastewater passes through the UL-2215 Approved Skimoil Series 'J' Oil/Water Separator. The high-performance oil/water separator is designed for gravity separation of free oils along with settleable solids from wastewater. These wastes accumulate in the separator while the wastewater passes through the effluent transfer pipes to the effluent clearwell. The effluent pump’s automatic level controls start and stop the pump at predetermined levels. The effluent is then pumped through the AFS. Oil and grease, total petroleum hydrocarbons, dissolved hydrocarbons, solvents, volatile organic compounds (VOC), and organically bound metals are removed here prior to gravity discharge of the remaining effluent.
