5AUSS-07A systems are manufactured by Advanced Geophysical Operations and Services Inc. and are designed for carrying out marine EM surveys at the depths of up to 100 meters. These systems are based on the use of high-precision and high-sensitivity geophysical equipment for EM surveys manufactured by Phoenix Geophysics Ltd. The systems are built in such a way that the equipment can easily be used for land surveys as well.

5AUSS-07A systems are platform frames made from plastic and fibreglass. They consist of MT acquisition units mounted in airtight underwater housings, a sinking cable system, acoustic devices for system retrieval from the deep, an emergency surfacing system, an underwater acoustic beacon for detecting the position of the submerged system, and electrical 10 m dipoles in the form of spread telescopic arms with underwater electrodes for measuring elect ric field strength and automatic platform levelling system.

5AUSS-07A systems can be successfully used for oil and gas exploration, metals and minerals exploration, kimberlites (diamonds) exploration, groundwater exploration, geothermal exploration, monitoring, earthquake research, engineering, and other environmental and geophysical applications. MT technology is also widely used in scientific research, such as the study of the deep structure of the earth's crust and upper mantle.

  1. Wireless communications between the individual units, i.e., complete independence of each individual acquisition system, with high accuracy GPS synchronization between instruments working with the system.
  2. Ability to use 5, 3 and 2 channel instruments in one system, and, if necessary, instruments with larger or smaller numbers of channels.
  3. Ability to carry out simultaneous synchronized soundings offshore and onshore.
  4. Ability to carry out surveys and data processing using a remote reference site and to apply robust processing to increase the accuracy of data and to suppress natural noise sources (agitation of aqueous surface, instability of underwater currents, etc.), as well as cultural noise.
  5. Ability to work with GPS-synchronized geophysical controlled current sources.
  6. 24-bit analog to digital converter.
  7. 300Hz -10000s frequency range.
  8. Digital data recording method to a solid-state detachable memory.
  9. Data acquisition units keep high level of synchronization in frequency range up to 20 hours after losing GPS synchronization due to an internal quartz resonator
  10. A temperature stable quartz resonator
  11. A digital filter, that could be turned off, for all commercial frequencies (50 or 60 Hz), even and odd harmonics, which fall into the frequency range (suppression no less than 40 dB)
  12. A high pressure-rated underwater sphere enclosure for the data acquisition unit and battery. • Underwater pressure-compensated electrodes
  13. Underwater connections and high pressure-rated cables
  14. Seabed platform with a digital compass accurate to one degree or better
  15. An underwater acoustic beacon and direction finder for locating system underwater
  16. Basic and emergency surfacing systems, an underwater pop-up buoy and an on-deck control unit
  17. Unlimited number of stations working with the system
  18. Underwater platform equipped with a compass, depth, temperature and pressure sensors
  19. Five-meter orthogonal telescopic electrode arms that allow the launch of systems from small size vessels.
  20. An automatic underwater platform horizontal levelling system.
