Municipal and industrial wastewater facilities develop baseline conductivity measurements to monitor changes throughout the treatment process. If significant changes in the baseline occur, it can alert operators that pollutants have entered the process, a sewage leak has occurred, or other process controls need to be reviewed. Combined with pH and other sensors, conductivity is a key parameter to control and monitor the activated sludge process in wastewater treatment applications. Industrial wastewater applications have a conductivity or total dissolved solids (TDS) specification to meet before effluent can be released downstream. AlpHa has sensor solutions uniquely tailored to each application, including continuous (process) monitoring sensors, laboratory / field electrodes, and cartridge options for multiparameter / sonde.

AlpHa’s conductivity portfolio includes contacting (2 cell, 3 cell, and 4 cell), and toroidal (inductive) sensing technologies. Conductivity sensors feature a range of cell constants (K value), including 0.01, 1.0, and 10, specialized housing materials, and various mechanical assemblies. Mechanical assemblies, such as “hot-tap” or “live-tap” retractable insertions, enable the sensor to be inserted or removed where the process cannot be drained or interrupted. Additional configuration options include temperature range from -5 to 200°C, conductivity range from 0.055 µS/cm to 1,000 mS/cm, and customized outputs to seamlessly integrate with third party equipment.
