CR Clean AirAmmonia Gas Scrubbers

SHARE
Ammonia (NH3) can be effectively removed using different scrubbers like Jet Venturi, Packed Towers, or Multi-channel Bed Scrubbers. Although ammonia can dissolve easily in water, recirculating an aqueous NH3 solution is usually unsuitable for scrubbing. This is because aqueous NH3 solutions have high NH3 vapor pressures, preventing the transfer of NH3 from the gas to the liquid phase. The commonly used method is to scrub NH3 with an aqueous acid solution, such as sulfuric or phosphoric acid, which has low vapor pressure. However, nitric acid can also create a valuable agricultural product.

Aqueous acids can also be used to scrub amines, but they can be more difficult to scrub than ammonia. The success and complexity of scrubbing depends on the characteristics of the particular amine, such as its solubility in water and reactivity with acid.
