AMS - Model 445.10 -15 lb. Stainless Steel Bottom Dredge
This dredge, often called a Van Veen grab or Van Veen dredge, is great for collecting sandy, silty, or muddy sediment samples in freshwater and coastal environments. Its weight makes it effective for shallow or soft-bottom conditions. With a screened top, water passes through during deployment, helping reduce sample disturbance. When the dredge contacts the bottom, the spring-loaded release mechanism activates to close the jaws securely, retaining the sample.
Like other Van Veen grab and Van Veen dredge designs, this sampler provides a simple, effective way to collect bottom samples with minimal disturbance to sediment layers. The jaw opening measures 6 in. (15.24 cm) X 6 in. (15.24 cm), providing a manageable sample volume for sediment studies and environmental assessments.
